The One That Lacks Activity

Oh people, I guess I’m just in a slump (it seems to be going around!) and am not being a very good bloggy motivator or inspiration right now!

I didn’t get any activity in today.  None.  Ridiculous.

Tomorrow I vow to at the very least walk to the bloody mailbox.

It was a struggle but I did manage to at least stay on track foodwise today (although the night is young!  eeeek!).

Afternoon snack was fruit and yogurt

fruit and yogurt

Stonyfield Organic Vanilla Yogurt with 1/2 chopped banana, fresh blackberries, and a shredded clementine…

clementine

Sooooo good.  Orange and vanilla are so yum.

I did a double water challenge today too.  #waterlogged anyone?  I have been feeling totally dehydrated for weeks and just can’t seem to top up the tank!  And yesterday’s food indescretions did not help.

*Glug Glug Glug*

I managed to finish work by about 6:20 which isn’t too bad, but was late enough that I had to miss Zumba with the other girls.  Bummer.  I’m not a superfan of group classes but it seems like a lot of fun and I really want to try it out!!

Instead I made dinner…

mexi egg and salad

Bigass Mexi-salad

bigass salad

With romaine, tomatoes, red onion, and avocado…dressed with salsa & a drizzle of Ranch

bigass salad

Served with cheesy toast and a perfect over-easy egg

cheese toast frying egg cheese toast egg on toast

I REALLY have to be in the mood for a fried egg and it has to be perfectly cooked.  I never order them in restaurants because I’m too picky and always afraid of runny whites, undercooked or overcooked yolks.  Tonight’s was the perfect happy medium!

over easy egg

By the time I finished dinner I had completely lost all of my steam (not that I really had any today) and really haven’t moved from the couch.  I think I’ll make tea, nuke my heat pack, rest my sore neck, and try to sleep early tonight.

Tomorrow is a new day, right?

The One with the Hold-Out

I realized today I’m a soup-snob now!  I really don’t each much in the way of canned soups anymore and now I remember why.  They suck.  ;)

This was my second can of Campbell’s Creations, and the second one I don’t like.  This new soup was bland and boring.  I ate it because I don’t like to waste, but I won’t do it again. Nuf said.

001

At least I had some yummy hummus toast to go with it!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People, I need to figure out a way to motivate myself to get up earlier in the morning. I’ve fallen into a major slump of barely getting up in time to start work.  People often tell me they are impressed that I can work diligently from home and usually I do, but right now my personal stuff is suffering because I’m slacking and have to give all of my time to work.

I used to get up earlier to either workout before starting work for the day, or to get a couple hours of work done and take time in the middle of the day for myself.  Now I’m sleeping like a teenager and skipping my first class!!  I go to bed with good intentions every night, but every morning there I am hitting snooze, snooze, snooze!

It’s not healthy!!!

So ya, today…no run.  Booooo. No one to blame but myself.  Someone kick me

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now here’s the part where you hate me because I’m going to cut this short.  Tonight, I discovered the BEST sushi I’ve had in Halifax yet.  In fact, possibly the BEST sushi I’ve EVER had!

010

But I’m going to make you wait for the review because it deserves it’s own post and some thought, which I’m just to tired for right now.

Sorry y’all.  It’s worth it.  I promise.  :)

Meh

I'm sure you can all understand that I'm not much into writing out my menus...or even thinking about what I'm going to eat for the next few days. It's been a rough week...and yesterday was a terrible day. (see my other blog if you aren't sure what I'm talking about).

I didn't even think about food all day yesterday...not even coffee. I finally forced a bowl of Kashi into myself in the early afternoon because I didn't think it would be good for me to go into an emotional situation and then have some sort of blood sugar crash. Afterwards, my friend took me for coffee and cookies so I could try to shake off the tears and relax a bit.

I'll even admit that in the evening I put on my sneakers to go for a walk, but I just couldn't handle a walk without Mojo. Too sad just yet. So I ended up going to get McD's for dinner. Not the healthiest choice obviously but it filled the hunger hole and I had the points for it since I'd barely eaten all day.

I'm trying to be better today but cooking definitely isn't high on my agenda. I will try to stick to the healthy options in my fridge and maybe by this evening I'll feel like distracting myself with cooking. Facing the gym might be tough too, but I'll see how it goes. I'm fine one minute, then not the next, so it's tough to know how the day will play out.

Thanks for all of the warm comments on my other blog. I really appreciate all of the wonderful support. Pin It

Time to find a chiropractor...

Well, I made it seven months so that's pretty good....but this stiff neck is going to need some professional intervention I think. Haligonians: do you have a favorite Chiropractor in town? It doesn't hurt and it's not causing me any physical issues, but I've got a headache that won't quit...for the third time in a week...and I just know from experience that my neck needs adjusting. Damn.

Anyway, so I slept in BIG TIME this morning. I always seem to do that when DBF goes away. I don't notice a difference in my sleep, but there must be something because I always end up wicked tired in the morning and can't drag my ass out of bed. I'll be working late today now I'm sure.

Food plan, such as it is at the moment:

- OJ
- coffee
- Fibre Source granola bar
- spinach salad tomatoes, chickpeas, cukes, light cheddar & ff ranch dressing
- crackers with goat cheese & red pepper jelly
- grapes
- dinner is leftover steak chunk & steamed brocolli
- evening snack will be Scoops baked with light cheddar, served with salsa & light sour cream (I was craving nachos last night but didn't have the points for them)
- and lots of water, I'm crazy dehydrated for some reason

If I finish work at a reasonable time, I'll either go for a walk in the rain or to the gym for some light cardio. Wish me luck on that one! Pin It

Monday Morning Meh

The good news is that the scale is showing 153.6. Whew. Back into my comfortable zone. I wasn't sure it would stick around after the weekend I had.

Actually, now that I think about it I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought. Friday night I opted for an appetizer quesadilla instead of the salad at Jack Astors. If I'm going to eat something for 15-20 points, it's not going to be freaking salad. :) It was good and cheesy. I didn't eat anything but a handful of my friend's Nibs at the movie (Mamma Mia was excellent by the way). I only had one drink at dinner, so I didn't feel bad when we went out for another drink after the movie. Worked out not too bad afterall.

Saturday morning I had fully intended to go to the gym, but DBF didn't get the email about waking me up when he got home (he had a 24 hour duty watch), so by the time I got up it was too late. We went for our weekend breakfast at our new favorite restaurant, then had errands to run. I had bacon, eggs, toast and hashbrowns...but it was OK because we didn't really eat for the rest of the day until dinner. I did drink far too much wine over the course of the evening, but such is life.

Yesterday I wasn't feeling much like eating, so stuck with orange juice and coffee to start. DBF did make breakfast so I ate a tiny portion of lean sausage and a few hashbrowns. I took myself shopping while the boys were watching F1...I succumbed to a box of Mike & Ikes but I figured the points would have been spent on lunch anyway so no big deal. I felt better after a latte later in the afternoon, then dinner of a tiny piece of leftover steak and some homemade pasta salad. In the evening I had a bowl of cereal. So although not the healthiest day ever, I think it was still actually OP.

This morning I DRAGGED myself to the gym after dropping DBF off (he's gone for three days...booooo). I actually had to convince myself to get out of the car and go in. The McD's was truly calling me and saying they had a sausage McMuffin with my name on it. But in the end I got myself into the gym and did my full workout. I treated myself to a triple Grande vanilla no-fat latte afterwards (saved 8 points and I'm just as satisfied, plus all caffeinated up!).

I'm not doing any shopping for the next two days so food will be whatever is on hand. Which is lots of stuff!

Today's menu....

- the yummmmy latte
- PC BM bagel with light Laughing Cow & tomato
- watermelon
- tomato & cucumber salad (marinated in light sour cream, dill, salt & pepper) tossed with spinach
- crackers with goat cheese & red pepper jelly
- grapes
- leftover corn on the cob, grilled lean sausage, small serving of homemade pasta salad
- evening snack to be determined Pin It

I'm in a funk

At least there is no candy left in house. Because I ate the last bag yesterday. Boooo....couldn't even get through one day. It's so freaking annoying!! Now I'm afraid to go shopping because I'll just end up buying more. Where did my willpower go? :(

Let's try this again!!!

Today so far:
- coffee
- All Bran bar

Planned next:
- Liberte Svelt vanilla yogurt
- sliced strawberries

Lunch:
- egg salad on a PC BM multigrain bagel
- baby carrots
- 2 tbsp roasted garlic hummus

GYM!

- strawberry soy milk drink box
- Kashi granola bar

Dinner:
- 1 x turkey dog on "Buns First" bun
- spinach salad w/ Newmans Italian dressing

- grapes
- cubes of light cheddar
- peppermint tea before bed

This is an estimated 25 points, so even if I do throw in an extra snack that will use up any APs I earn at the gym. You would think this would be doable!! Go me!

Oooops!

Well, here you have it folks. An all-out point-busting night was had last night. Meh.

DBF mentioned dinner out, and at first I said no because we are going out tonight for his fancy birthday dinner....but then the chicken for the salads wasn't thawed yet, and well...my willpower obviously waned. The idea of not cooking seemed fabulous, so off we went.

We chose East Side Marios because it was the last of the local restaurants that we hadn't been to yet. Now, I KNOW there are decent choices there...I've looked at the menu, I've seen the threads on the GDT...but somehow I just coúldn't bring myself to order one of those things. I didn't want salad...which is stupid, because that's what we were going to have if we'd eaten at home.

So yup, I chose the Baked Ziti. Cheesey, ooey, gooey, saucey pasta. with SAUSAGE. Plus, of course I couldn't pass up the free bread. At least I chose the Italian Wedding soup as my starter...it's actually less points than the salad with dressing....not that it matters at that point! I only ate half of my dinner, but it's still somewhere around 12 points. SO NOT WORTH IT. The leftovers are in the fridge, but I will likely not eat them because it wasn't very good and I can't fathom stuffing that many points in my body again before it goes bad.

But the worst part is that we finally gave in to our Blizzard craving last night. We've been bombarded by commercials about the new Tin Roof Brownie Blizzard on TV all week....and being as the DQ is right next to Marios, the car basically just drove itself there. Boooooooo. In this case, the new flavour of treat is really good, so it was more worth it....but not really since I'd already consumed so much carby-cheesy-crap just 15 minutes earlier. I only ate about half of it (OK maybe two thirds) but it was chock full of yummy brownie bits and chocolate covered peanuts.

I just added up the points the best I could and believe it or not I still have about 5 FP left. However, tonight is steak and lobster night....plus many bevvies for DBFs birthday....so those 5 points just won't cut it. Oh well, such is life.

I have planned out my menu for today very carefully so as to stay full right up until dinner without any extraneous snacking. If I need something to tide me over in the late afternoon, there is a bag of baby carrots and some cucumber sticks awaiting me in the fridge. Unfortunately, today is my MUCH NEEDED day off from the gym, so I can't even squeak in an extra workout to help me out (I think my body might kill me if I did), but I will get out for a lunchtime walk with the dog...and if I have time this afternoon I will squeak in a 20 minute yoga-flow podcast.

I won't be beating myself up, but I won't be falling victim to the bland Mario's pasta again that's for sure! And I won't be expecting a loss come Monday morning, but I will work carefully on Saturday and Sunday to make sure that I'm not eating anything I don't NEED. Pin It

Stupid Weigh In

What the hell? UP? Ya, that's right... SEVEN days OP, plus exercise SIX of those days...and what does the scale tell me? It tells me I gained almost a pound. Back up to 151.6! Booooooo!!

I know it doesn't really matter because it's probably been one of the most active weeks of my life, but still....I wanted to see my goal number again...finally. Not fair!

I am going back to have a look at my menus from two weeks ago because that was the week that I dropped 2.5 lbs. Maybe there was something magical in my dinners! This week will be tough as I want to eat as clean as possible all week, because this weekend is DBF's bday...and we have fancy-schmancy dinner plans on Friday and a night of drinking on Saturday. I've got to plan, plan, plan! Pin It

Meh

Hmmmm....well, I wouldn't call it a bad day, but it certainly wasn't an OP day. I didn't eat my strawberries or make my salad for dinner. I didn't eat my chocolate chip bread either, but that's because I ended up snacking on SmartPop w/ Becel in the evening instead. Boooo, it wasn't that good (the Becel went all cold and weird) and it was higher points. And this afternoon I snacked on heated Almond Breeze and a chocolate dipped granola bar. Only 4 points for those two things, but that's enough to blow the plan for today.

I was bored. Even with working all day, I get bored sitting here all the time. A girl can only sit and stare at the computer so long...and my book wasn't appealing to me today...and I had no motivation to outside...and, and, and....

Meh, tomorrow will be better. Pin It
