It’s Been a Week

Thank you so much to everyone that sent me lovely comments, tweets, Facebook messages, and emails this week.  Stoopy had himself quite a fan club and it did my heart good to read all of your well wishes. xoxo

A girl’s bestest feline friend

CIMG0006

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my handsome boy, Mr. Stoopy.  After 17 years together, it’s going to be strange to not have him around.  He has been my constant companion since I was just 19, traveling with me as I’ve gone through life, roommates, boyfriends, multiple moves including a trek across Canada and back.

I’ve always joked that he’s my most stable relationship.  My favourite boyfriend.  The bestest kitty a girl could ask for.  But it’s not a joke really.

He’s been by my side through thick and thin, sometimes cuddly, sometimes aloof, but always good for a snuggle or pet whether he liked it or not.

He put up with other cats coming and going.  He even put up with a big dog joining the family for a couple of years…even though that meant he had to hide to enjoy his meals.  He accepted Chibi when I brought her home to join our family.  His approval was very important and I was so happy when it all worked out.

He rode shotgun next to me all the way back across Canada from Halifax to Victoria…choosing to enjoy a car ride as a passenger rather than as a pet in a cage.  He got comfortable in random hotels and the homes of generous friends and never complained a bit.  Best road trip buddy ever.

Sometimes handsome, sometimes cranky, sometimes lacking a little class.

But always, always a great friend and fuzzy companion.  The bestest for sure.

RIP Mr. Stoopy.  You will be missed.  So much.

Reality Bites

Ahhhhhh…I’ve been putting off this post because if I post the last of my pictures it means that the GTG weekend really has ended!! :(

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Sunday and Monday were certainly much calmer in comparison to the previous days and nights.  Unfortunately Jen and Danny had to head for the airport on Sunday morning so I had said a teary (and drunk!) goodbye when we left Angie’s at the wee hours of the morning.

I was feeling ROUGH when I got up Sunday morning.  Like…I got up to call Amy back and decided after only 3 minutes that I needed to go back to bed.  So I did.  Thankfully Amy, Andrew, Cat and Mike had Angie’s car with GPS so they did some adventuring around town on their own.  Mike got his East Coast Chowder (apparently The Coast was right and Esquire’s was tasty!), they got to enjoy some fun in the brisk sun at Point Pleasant Park, and they took another trip to Pete’s Frootique to stock up on treats for our night in at Farm Girl’s.

I stayed in bed all day.  :)

Another PSL to get me through the evening…

143

Then met the remaining gang (minus a couple of sickypants) for cheese, chitchat, and comfort.

Amy and Cat picked out a variety of cheeses, fruit, bread and crackers.

139

And a veggie platter, which FG made three dips for…

140 141

And another FG treat…layered dip…deeeeelish.

142

FG and Big Jay also made a batch of Jambalaya (for which I’m patiently waiting on the recipe post!!)…

144

And if that wasn’t enough, FG also made the world’s BEST freaking strawberry daquiris…I had a virgin and it was fan-effing-tastic.  There’s something to be said for a strawberry farmer working her magic with real strawberries and a blender.  :)

(How do I NOT have a pic of this?  Gah!!!)

I guess that’s when I stopped taking pics at all…cuz I don’t have any more.  :(

Monday we met for a final brunch at Cora’s (Lynn and Lex have a group photo!!) and just hung out for a bit until it was time to take Amy and Andrew to the airport.  I hate airport goodbyes!!

Monday evening Cat, Mike and I opted to just grab some East Side Mario’s for dinner and curled up on the couch to watch Knocked Up.  We were all nodding off by about 9pm, so they hauled themselves up to bed and I tried to last a little longer but caught myself half asleep and trucked it on upstairs too.

The next thing I knew it was Tuesday morning and time to drive them to the airport too.  Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

COME BACK, COME BACK, COME BACK!!

This is not “THE END”.  Only “TO BE CONTINUED”…   :)

The One With All the Tea, Sleep and Eating

This morning I had to make the sad trek to the airport to return Miss Cat and her man Mike back to Vancouver.  Boooooooooooooo!!!  :(  Nothing like pouty faces at 6am.  Come back!!

It was barely 7am when I got home but thought I’d try to stay up and watch some TV before starting work for the day.  Made some green tea with jasmine to ward off the scratchy throat that started yesterday (curious to see how many of us get sick after our crazy weekend?!).

146

Promptly fell asleep about 20 minutes into Mercy (pretty good new show) and didn’t wake up until my phone rang to remind me that I had just missed an appointment. Shit.  Oh well.

Breakfast was yogurt and 1/2 sliced banana

149

Followed by 1/2 cinnamon raisin bagel with cinnamon raisin PB

150

And a cup of Candy Cane Lane tea (tis not quite the season but I love the vanilla mint combo flavor)…

152

The remainder of my day was work, work, work.  Lots to catch up after our busy week last week and then the long weekend that about half of us took.

Lunch was a little turkey/hummus/greens wrap

IMG_5445

With some sliced pear and old cheddar cheese

IMG_5446

And a Gingerbread Spice tea

IMG_5447

Yup, lotsa tea.  It feels good.  :)

I let myself have one more day off from the gym because I’m totally exhausted.  No sense hurting myself for one day of cardio.  No big conference call tomorrow so I’ll be able to fit something in somewhere in my day.

Dinner was simply some thawed Chicken Corn Chowder

 IMG_5449

And a serving of Food Should Taste Good “The Works” chips (picked up during one of our stops at Pete’s Frootique with the girls this weekend).

IMG_5452IMG_5448

With salsa and sour cream for dipping…

IMG_5451

Honestly I’m not loving this flavor. The caraway is overpowering. :(

Bundled up with my soup and blanky on the couch to start poking away at this giant list of shows that have filled up the PVR while I was kept busy and away from the TV…

147 148

Sadly, The Amazing Race didn’t tape properly…I got 60 Minutes instead.  Hate it when the guide is mislabelled!!  Grrrrr.  But I did finally get to see that Cody got sent home on SYTYCD so that’s a highlight to my day…lol.

Now I’m exhausted but can’t sleep.  Let’s hope it comes soon.  Maybe some banana, Kashi, and almond milk will help. nom nom nom.

Meh

I'm sure you can all understand that I'm not much into writing out my menus...or even thinking about what I'm going to eat for the next few days. It's been a rough week...and yesterday was a terrible day. (see my other blog if you aren't sure what I'm talking about).

I didn't even think about food all day yesterday...not even coffee. I finally forced a bowl of Kashi into myself in the early afternoon because I didn't think it would be good for me to go into an emotional situation and then have some sort of blood sugar crash. Afterwards, my friend took me for coffee and cookies so I could try to shake off the tears and relax a bit.

I'll even admit that in the evening I put on my sneakers to go for a walk, but I just couldn't handle a walk without Mojo. Too sad just yet. So I ended up going to get McD's for dinner. Not the healthiest choice obviously but it filled the hunger hole and I had the points for it since I'd barely eaten all day.

I'm trying to be better today but cooking definitely isn't high on my agenda. I will try to stick to the healthy options in my fridge and maybe by this evening I'll feel like distracting myself with cooking. Facing the gym might be tough too, but I'll see how it goes. I'm fine one minute, then not the next, so it's tough to know how the day will play out.

Thanks for all of the warm comments on my other blog. I really appreciate all of the wonderful support. Pin It
