A girl’s bestest feline friend

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my handsome boy, Mr. Stoopy.  After 17 years together, it’s going to be strange to not have him around.  He has been my constant companion since I was just 19, traveling with me as I’ve gone through life, roommates, boyfriends, multiple moves including a trek across Canada and back.

I’ve always joked that he’s my most stable relationship.  My favourite boyfriend.  The bestest kitty a girl could ask for.  But it’s not a joke really.

He’s been by my side through thick and thin, sometimes cuddly, sometimes aloof, but always good for a snuggle or pet whether he liked it or not.

He put up with other cats coming and going.  He even put up with a big dog joining the family for a couple of years…even though that meant he had to hide to enjoy his meals.  He accepted Chibi when I brought her home to join our family.  His approval was very important and I was so happy when it all worked out.

He rode shotgun next to me all the way back across Canada from Halifax to Victoria…choosing to enjoy a car ride as a passenger rather than as a pet in a cage.  He got comfortable in random hotels and the homes of generous friends and never complained a bit.  Best road trip buddy ever.

Sometimes handsome, sometimes cranky, sometimes lacking a little class.

But always, always a great friend and fuzzy companion.  The bestest for sure.

RIP Mr. Stoopy.  You will be missed.  So much.

Bad Blogger, Bad!

I know, I know.  MIA is no way for a good blogger to act!  Did you miss me while I was off visiting and camping out with friends? ;)

I swear I started out all good on Friday… pictures all the livelong day…

Until around 5pm when I was still racing around packing up my stuff for the weekend, taking a last minute trip to the mall for a totally necessary new white tank top and a not so necessary taco dinner, and finishing making potato salad for Saturday’s cookout.

Not even a picture of the finished Twisted Tater Salad!  Duh.

I even had “what I did today” photos to go along with Friday’s food stuffs!  Cleaned up my poor, poor strawberries again (and decided NOT to put them back up on their shelf) and smiled at Chibi enjoying the sun and my fan.

Even Stoopy got in on the action!

I’m a bad, bad girl.  Sorry y’all.

I can however offer you this photo of the awesome brunch omelette Michael made on Saturday before we headed off for the campout.

I missed everything that went into it, but sauteed onions, peppers and prosciutto definitely made the pan.  With lots of cheese!!  After broiling to finish it off he topped it with avocado….deeeeeelish.

Happy Dogiversary!

Last night marked one whole month since Chibani arrived for her trial weekend…and since she hasn’t left yet I think we can safely say we are now family. :)

Things we’ve learned:

• She’s incredibly happy and loveable.
• She’s not cuddly but wants to be near me at all times.
• She’ll steal MY blanket the minute I turn my head.
• She will only let me pet her when she’s on her leash or in her kennel.
• She loves her walks.

• She looks like anything but a dog (deer, monkey, horse, armadillo, mouse, you name it!)
• She is fine left alone in her kennel, but leave the apartment for 5 minutes to do laundry and it’s the end of the world.
• She stress eats the cat’s food.
• She has developed a hankering for cat poop. ewwwwww.
• She snores like a Mac truck.

Awwwww….wook at that widdle face!!!  :)

I need a night off!

I’m still posting a day behind…so sue me!  I just could not face the computer when I got home last night.  One of these nights I’m going to actually score some couch time with the dog!

Kashi cereals were on a good sale the other day so I grabbed a couple of boxes.  Honey Sunshine is basically like Corn Bran but doesn’t cut up my mouth as badly!

I sprinkled some on top of my fruit salad and Vanilla Field berry yogurt.

For lunch I put the leftover tuna salad to use…using a pita and some shredded old cheddar to make a tuna melt!

Apple slices and celery sticks on the side.

Chibi and I had a car riding adventure to Petcetera during our afternoon.  She needed a new bag of food, a quick manicure and some socializing. 

I needed an extra coffee.  Grande non-fat half-sweet hazelnut bold coffee misto, thank you very much.

After finishing work for the day I raced around to tame my mane and get ready for dinner with Bachelor #5.  (Date #2…in case you missed it…we had coffee on Saturday morning). 

I was a little grumpy because he called at the last minute to tell me he was running half an hour behind but I sucked it up because I know how these things can happen.

And he arrived with flowers so that’s a pretty good apology, no? :)

We had a DELICIOUS sushi dinner (yay for boys that eat sushi!).

It’s highly possible he will discover my blog fairly easily so I shall leave it at that. 

For those keeping track, we are down to Bach #1, #3 and #5.  I guess odd numbers are my friend. #2 dissed me and I dissed #4.

I’m exhausted. ha!
