Scenes from the Week

That second job is coming along just fine.  Just fine indeed.  I guess they agree because I got to order my business cards.  I’m sooo official.

IMG_1808IMG_1802

If I wasn’t so obsessed with constantly challenging myself to eat different things, I might be inclined to eat chick pea tacos every night.  So delish.

IMG_8576IMG_1852

The love for Stoopy keeps on coming.  I have some very thoughtful, amazing, supportive friends out there.  Thanks J1!

IMG_1856IMG_1866IMG_1884

And just so you know…Victoria is totally safe from the walking dead.

IMG_1830

Thank goodness.  That whole having to learn to shoot people in the head thing was really bothering me.

Ready for the Weekend

Last night I decided to tackle a few work items right before bed so I wouldn’t be sitting here tonight.  It was a good decision because now I’m all caught up and can go enjoy my weekend.

Don’t you love that feeling?!

WIAT_Aug9

After work today I texted Michael and told him I needed to take a few hours to do some housework before heading to his place for the evening.  Every night this week I’ve looked at my carpets and thought about vacuuming but every night got away from me.  I could not go enjoy my weekend knowing I still had chores to do!

Vacuumed, dusted, cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom.  I’m happy now.

If only my oven would clean itself.

WIAT_Aug10

OK, time to pack up my pj’s and my pupper and head over to the boyfriend’s.  I sure hope he has a movie for us to watch because that’s all I have the energy for.  Maybe I’ll even stay awake for it. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh Hello

Where did the week go?

I love a holiday Monday as much as the next gal but I have realized I didn’t use it to it’s full capacity and now I feel like my to-do list is a mile long and it’s not getting any shorter!

Monday

WIAT_Aug6

1. Coffee with almond milk.

2. Peach-Blueberry Crisp with non-fat vanilla yogurt.

3. Almonds.

4. Focaccia sandwich with ham, tomatoes, and melted cheddar.

5. Watermelon.

6 & 7. Shrimp salad sandwich with mayo, fresh chives, tomato and cucumber slices.  Served with corn on cob.  If that dinner doesn’t say Summer I don’t know what does.

8. More Crisp.

9. Revello.  Because long weekends can’t end without ice cream.

IMG_1541

After two of the hottest days of the year things decided to cool down some for the return to work.  It was perfect for taking Chibi for a good, long power walk between jobs.  We even took the opportunity to rock a mini-workout on the bleachers at the park.

Tuesday

WIAT_Aug7

1. Coffee with almond milk.

2. Breakfast on the run: sweetened plain yogurt, blueberries and Kashi Honey Almond.

3. Tide me over: 1/2 multigrain sandwich thin with cheddar cheese.

4. Mall sushi.  California Roll.  Remarkably it was AMAZING.

5. Smushed peppermint patty.

6. Homemade iced coffee with almond milk.

7. Bigass dinner salad topped with an ‘everything’ turkey burger patty.

8. Watermelon.

9. Revello.  Because storm watching needs ice cream.

IMG_1552

I totally love the amazing thunder storms we’ve been having here this year!

And then all of a sudden today is Wednesday.  Sitting in my weekly meeting for Job #1 I perfected the art of putting on make-up and getting ready for Job #2 while chatting on a wireless headset.  Multitasking for the win.

Wednesday

WIAT_Aug8

1. Hey look!  Coffee with almond milk.

2. Cherry Crisp (homemade last night!) with sweetened plain yogurt.

3. Hard boiled egg.

4. Lunch salad: romaine, carrots, celery, blueberries, watermelon and Mandarin Sesame dressing topped with half a turkey burger patty.

5. Kashi bar.

6. Banana bites with almond butter.

7. Dried cherries.

8. Red wine.  Oh yes please and thank you.

9. Personal sized poutine a la Clive’s Classic Lounge.

For a bright note in my busy week a few of my girlfriends decided we should go out for a drink to celebrate my new job.  Yay!  I’m so grateful for such thoughtful friends.  I’m a lucky girl.

Happy Hump Day!

Star Pops and other fun

Another busy day (who knew finding cute flats was so hard!) and another opportunity to eat on the fly and forget to beef up the protein.  Ha, I kill myself.  Beef.  Protein.  I’m funny.

WIAT_July25

1. Kashi Honey Almond Flax with Liberte Greek Vanilla Yogurt and fresh blueberries.

2. Water (x 3 all day) and coffee with almond milk.

3. Celery, rice crackers, Laughing Cow, and hummus.

4. Big leafy salad with tomatoes, cukes, red pepper, avocado and cheddar.  Where’s the beeeeef?  I meant to use tuna.

5. 1/2 leftover Larabar I had in my purse.

6. Starbucks tall non-fat half sweet vanilla iced coffee.

7. Leftover Thai Green Curry with tofu over brown rice.

8. Pinteresting Pina Colada Popsicle!

IMG_8056

What’s harder to find than cute brown flats?  A freaking popsicle mold!  I pinned this Pina Colada Popsicle recipe ages ago but it’s taken me a couple of months to find a popsicle mold.  Every time I checked the obvious places they were sold out.  Thankfully a second trip to a popular local store, Capital Iron, provided me with these cute star shaped molds.

IMG_8047

And now I have my very own homemade 100 calorie frozen fruity treats!

Time to get organized

Monday was busy and I struggled to get my eating in order.  It didn’t help that I didn’t have much in the way of fresh groceries on hand so making lunch didn’t happen until way late after I’d hit the supermarket.

IMG_1391

Why so busy?  Well I had to actually find work appropriate clothing in my closet and do my hair.  This is tough for a work-at-home gal you know!  But I had a meeting to discuss my new job and I’m pretty sure yoga pants don’t qualify as workplace fashion.  Yup, I found a great new job to help make up for the cutbacks at my usual situation.  Soon I’ll tell you all about it. :)

WIAT_July23

1. Water (x2 all day, oops!) and coffee with almond milk.

2. Kashi Honey Almond Flax with almond milk and banana.

3. Rice crackers and Laughing Cow.

4. Dried cherries. Impulse buy at Wal-Mart.

5. Bigass salad (to which I completely forgot to add my protein).

6. Chicken and White Bean Enchilada from my freezer.

7. “Cheetahs” – baked yam chips.

8. Liberte Greek Vanilla Yogurt with Kashi and amazing strawberries picked from Michael’s garden.

Catching Up

What a couple of weeks it’s been!  I have no idea how, but I feel run ragged.  This whole impromptu dog ownership while trying to re-join the dating world is EXHAUSTING.

Thank gawd Spring seems to be trying to come around!

IMG_7830

Over the last few days I’ve managed to get my hands on three FREE Starbucks petites.  I figured if I’m going to have afternoon coffee, it might as well be Starbucks so I could get a freebie (or three!)

IMG_7786

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie

Peanut Butter Cupcake

IMG_7840

Carrot Cake Cupcake

IMG_1334

Bonus: Mom’s Sweet & Salty Bar

IMG_1335

For the first time ever I am really impressed with SB’s baked treats.  Usually I find them kind of dry (although I continue to buy things anyway!) but each of these was delicious and really moist!!

I think my favourite was the Peanut Butter Cupcake…now if only it was three times larger!! :)

Other foods that have kept me fed lately which are worth mentioning…

Strawberry Oatmeal.  Made with extra UVAB, cooked banana, fresh simmered strawberries, and topped with toasted almonds.

IMG_7810

Bagel crisps matched with crack hummus.  When in doubt, garlic breath never ruins a date.  Honest. ;)

IMG_7797

When the fridge gets empty, there are always spanakopita in the freezer.

IMG_7816

Yesterday Chibi got cozy in the back seat for a Saturday road trip.  She pretty much loves the car rides!  All curled up in a tiny ball almost the whole time.

IMG_1329

We visited my Mom, had coffee with my friend Christy, (ate a whole bag of treats this new doggie Mama inadvertently left within doggie grasp), and made a pit stop for the Island’s best burger.

IMG_1336

Go to Nanaimo.  Go to Gilly B’s.  Order the Canuck burger.  Now.

IMG_1337

We drove our exhausted asses home and promptly fell asleep on the couch watching a movie.  Thankfully we woke up, reset our clocks forward, and got on with our Sunday.

The weather is azz, so comfort food is on the menu for Sunday dinner.

IMG_7846

Until the tulips actually bloom I guess puff pastry will have to brighten my day.

Time Burglar

Man, who knew such a little dog could steal so much of my time?  I had forgotten that pee breaks, and feedings, and cuddles eat up my personal time like nobody’s business.  Between the dog, the cat, and my dating adventures I’m running out of ME time…including blogging!

So I’m a day behind again. Bah!

Yesterday’s breakfast…lemon yogurt, strawberries, banana, and crumbled Sticky Bar.

IMG_7728IMG_7729IMG_7732

I opted to make some ME time during my lunch hour…instead of hitting the gym I ran some errands, got a desperately needed manicure (with my found money!), and picked up lunch on the run.

IMG_7733

Thrifty Foods deli… Ancient Grains salad and spinach & feta samosa.

IMG_7735

Half-sweet hazelnut misto while getting my nails done.

IMG_7738

As usual I was in a time crunch for dinner, so instead of the ham & pea risotto I had planned I put together a quickie pita pizza.

IMG_7739IMG_7740

Greek style pita makes an excellent crust!  With tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, fresh spinach, mozzarella, and leftover ham from Sunday brunch.

IMG_7748

Sprinkled with fresh parmesan.  Totally delish and satisfying.

IMG_7750

I raced off to a coffee date with Bachelor #4.  Well, tea date actually.  Nice visit, but the hunt continues. :)

Back at home I found a whole hour for myself to just lay on the couch, watching Criminal Minds, and munching cookies.  Heaven.

IMG_7753

Thankfully Chibi lets me sleep in the morning.  I suppose sleep is ME time, right? :)

Daim You!

Where did today go?  Holy moly.  I didn’t think I was busy but all of the sudden the day ended and I felt like I’d accomplished nothing.

Even my pictures are rushed and haphazard!  Maybe not enough coffee this morning…

IMG_7659

Lemon yogurt with fresh strawberries (I bought a 2lb box…I sense a recurring breakfast theme this week!) with a homemade Sticky Bar.

IMG_7663

Greek Salad for lunch…but where’s the after shot with the hummus and pita?  Maybe I ate it.

IMG_7666

Chibi and I went for a lunchtime walk around the block.  The skies were blue and it was chilly out!

001003

I like having a dog to walk again!

Hot tea to warm my freezing hands.  Note to self: blue skies do not mean you can leave your coat and mitts at home.

007

One of the many coooookies I ate today. :)

IMG_7662

For dinner my friend Ibby and I opted to get together at The Pink Bicycle for cheeseburgers with bacon and onion rings.

004

Deeeelish.  Much more my scene than the bison burger I had there last time.  Still pretty much in love with those buns!

005006

I promised Ibby a batch of chocolate chip cookies over a week ago and then this weekend I jokingly left him a Facebook message to bring me Ikea candy during his trip to Vancouver.  When he said he would I knew he’d be a man of his word and got right to baking him his cookies in exchange.

I couldn’t be the girl who cried cookie!

Not only did he bring me the oh-so-delicious bag of Daim (think mini Skor bars…nom!) but also bigass Ikea chocolate bars.

IMG_7673IMG_7674IMG_7675

I think he’s trying to fatten me up.  Now I’ll have to do double cardio tomorrow dammit!  Will run for chocolate!!  and bacon.  and cheeese.

After dinner I delivered another batch of cookies to Bachelor #1 and had a quick cup of tea at Starbucks.  I might have used him as an excuse to “sample” the Daim.

Um, quadruple cardio it is.
