MoanDay

IMG_2354

I was soooo not interested in Monday this week.  Even a travel mug of coffee didn’t make easing into the work week any fun.

IMG_2344

Stoopy was very happy about Monday though.  It means his weekend of kitty bachelorhood is over and he has me back to torment via meows.

IMG_2342

Helping highlight my displeasure in the day is my carb-loaded bland menu.  Toast, leftover soup, crackers.  Oh how exciting!

IMG_2352IMG_2355

Homemade ghetto iced coffee, sad square of chocolate.

IMG_2350

Neglected blueberries on their last legs.  I couldn’t even go so far as to drop them in some yogurt or something.

IMG_2357IMG_2358

And if all of that wasn’t proof of my utter laziness…then I’m pretty sure that this pathetic dinner will do it for ya.  Yup, that’s a container of pasta, mayo, cheese, and ham.  I ate the whole thing and washed it down with a secret stash of chocolate covered peanuts.

Never late evening shop when you are tired, bored and hungry.

What’s worse?  I ate that hot mess while watching Bachelor Pad.

What is the world coming to?

Biscotti Supper

Odd day.  I totally crashed in the late afternoon...went for a 20 minute power nap and completely passed out.  And after that I wasn't hungry for dinner.  I hope I'm not getting sick!!!

Before the day went to snoozeville there was some fun eats...

IMG_8870

Egg over-medium served on Silver Hills Big 16 toast spread with light herby cream cheese and topped with salsa.  I wanted something different and this totally hit the spot.

Today also marked my first attempt at French press coffee!

IMG_8866

I made it a tiny bit too weak (for fear of making it too strong) but all in all it was really good and I bet tomorrow it will be perfect!

For lunch I made a super fabulous bigass salad (maybe this bowl is the reason I wasn't hungry for supper?!).

IMG_8872

Spinach, carrots, cucumbers, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and herby goat cheese.

IMG_8874

Drizzled with EVOO and white wine vinegar, sprinkled with coarse salt, and at the last minute I tossed in a few walnut pieces.

IMG_8876

A couple of Raincoast Crisps to complete the meal.  At only 90 calories for 4 of these delicious gourmet crackers I may keep them in my cupboard more often!

After my crazy nap I met up with the other Jamie for a coffee date.  I had a decaf cafe au lait and a blueberry white chocolate biscotti but it never even occurred to me to take a picture!  Obviously I'm totally out of it today.

When I got home I was full from the milk in my bevvie and since it was after 9pm I decided not to bother with dinner.   Here's hoping the snack monster doesn't show up because of the lack of proper meal!!

Hungry Hungry, um Girl!

I’m a bottomless pit today!

Working out more, getting up earlier, and returning to portion control is making me hungry!

In the continuing attempt to use up the food on hand, I concocted a croissammich for lunch today.  Croissant sandwich for those of you that don’t speak Jaime.  :)

Croissant toasted in the oven…with a little light mayo, sliced tomatoes, and salami…

IMG_8223

With a chopped kiwi

IMG_8224

For those of you that asked…NO, I don’t eat the skin.  Ewwww.  Yesterday I was in a hurry so I didn’t bother peeling them…I just ate them like orange wedges.  I don’t recommend that though because the skin can “burn” your tongue.

A little while later I reheated some coffee and looked through the pantry for an afternoon snack.  I spied this Caramel Macchiato Biscotti my Mom put in my stocking.

IMG_8225

Holy deeeelish.  Angie has mentioned these before but I didn’t realize they have a little icing on them.  Super yummy treat!  Only 160 calories.

IMG_8227

I spent the better part of the afternoon tackling a big work project.  Not too hard but lots of staring at the computer so I took a little break a couple of hours in.  I felt hungry AGAIN, but figure it’s probably because I’m a bit dehydrated.

Not really feeling the love of plain old water, so I decided to mix up a cranberry-soda cocktail…fancy! ha!

IMG_8230

And a little handful of Almond Nut-Thins just for the snack factor…

IMG_8228

Gee, blog posts are a lot more boring when we’re back to work eh?  The rest of my afternoon was spent finishing that project and working about an hour late.  Didn’t get to run my errands yet AGAIN.  Ah well, it felt great to cross that project off my to-do list…it was bugging me that I was behind on it.

Instead of trying to wrangle up a time-consuming dinner, we went the simple route.  FH ate up some leftover spaghetti from the freezer and I made myself a bigass salad

Baby spinach, grape tomatoes, carrots, yellow pepper, & mini cucumber…

IMG_8231

Dressed with a scoop of hummus, drizzles of olive oil and balsamic, and s&p…

IMG_8232IMG_8233

Served with a few spanakopita and tzatziki

IMG_8235

So deeelish!!  I love those little things.  Lucky for me FH isn’t a fan.  More for me!  haha.

I randomly grabbed another croissant shortly after dinner too.  Didn’t even stop to take a picture.  *gulp*

Dessert was this crazy little white chocolate Santa that came in the Christmas bag my friend Mel gave me.  There’s something to be said for really good chocolate

IMG_8237

Told you…bottomless pit!!

I curled up with my heat pack…back to gym = stiff bad shoulder…and promptly dozed off on the couch for an hour.  oooops.

We’re now drinking tea and I’m avoiding the open bag of chocolate covered almonds (well, trying!).  Hopefully I finally sleep solidly tonight.  Not a super early morning tomorrow since FH drives himself on Wednesdays.  Nice.

Nighty night y’all!

Pit Stop

I made it to Calgary!  However their free wi-fi seems to be eluding me.  Dirty buggers.  That’s OK, my first flight was delayed an hour this morning leaving me with a slightly tight squeeze for my layover.

This morning started out bright and early at 5am.  Blech.  Not sure if you noticed but I didn’t get to bed until 12:40am.  Ewwwww.

Surprisingly I’m not a grumpy-guss!!  And I didn’t sleep on the first leg of my flight due to two incredibly chatty ladies sitting beside me.  We talked the entire time.  haha.  I never do that!  Generally I’m the girl that falls asleep and drools on herself.  :)

Needless to say, it’s going to be an early night tonight!

Started the morning with a Starbucks stop (obviously, like there was ever any doubt!).  Unpictured triple grande non-fat vanilla latte was consumed on drive to airport.  Maybe that’s what kept me going for the 5 hour flight?!

In my foggy haze I didn’t plan my breakfast or snacks very well, so I grabbed this yogurt parfait at the airport.  $5!!  That’s what I get for not thinking ahead.

IMG_7554 IMG_7557

I ate half at take-off and the other half about 2 hours in.  I was actually starving but didn’t want to buy anything from the on-board snacks, so I fished this Amazing Grass energy bar out of the bottom of my purse…

 IMG_7559

Yaieeee for purse snacks!!  I ate half.  I suspect the other half won’t make it to Victoria. (actually it did make it, I fell asleep!)

There was also the last butter tart…which escaped my camera because I was busy chatting.  Plus I always get the little bags of Bits & Bites from the drink cart when they come around.  Those are seriously the highlight of my Westjet flights!  haha.  I had two.  :)

I brought my own water bottle this time too.  I always end up spending $10 on airport water when I travel.  If you bring an empty bottle and ask someone in one of the cafes really nicely, they’ll fill it for you.  :)

Once we got to Calgary and I did a walking lap around the wing to get blood flowing to my bum again, I headed straight for food.  I’ll be honest…there is a Subway here…but the line was like 12 people deep.  So I opted for Manchu Wok

IMG_7561

I asked for steamed rice and chose the two ‘healthiest’ options I could see…mixed veggies and chicken & mushrooms (with lots of zucchini).

IMG_7560

The chicken was yucky and there wasn’t much of it so I’m still craving protein, but the rest was good.  She overloaded the rice so I only ate half.

Now I’ve got me a Tazo African Red Bush tea (yummy!  They were out of Refresh so recommended this and it totally hit the spot!) and I’m eyeing up the Sweet Factory for some jelly beans or something…we shall see.  Really I wish I had remembered the pear I left in my fridge.  :)

IMG_7562

[I did NOT hit the Sweet Factory…WIN!]

Victoria here I come!

Catching Up with Me

I think all of those long days have now caught up with me. By bedtime last night I was exhausted and then wound up sleeping WAY in this morning. FH didn't have to work (lucky bugger) so I didn't have to get up extra early and still wound up sleeping through my own alarm for over an hour. Nutty. Must have needed it.

I'm feeling soft and squishy this morning. Funny, because I didn't feel that way throughout the whole vacation...or most of yesterday for that matter. By last night I was starting to feel it though and today my belly is actually a bit distended. I guess a combo of the bad eating and lack of water, topped by the overkill on fresh produce and water yesterday. Probably takes a few days for my poor body to get used to healthy living again.

Day one back on track was a little harder than I thought it would be. The evening snackies got to me a bit. I did stick with just some trail mix, but ate far more than I should have....at least it wasn't the Easter Creme Egg I have hiding in the pantry! hehe. I'm saving that for a treat when I've earned it. (oh Lord, give me strength!)

Due to the sleeping in this morning, I plan to head out shortly for a walk around the neighborhood since I didn't have my early workout. It's freaking gorgeous and sunny out there...clear blue skies....who cares if it's cold when the sun is shining like this! I think I'll do some yoga when I get back....and then tell FH supper will be late so I can hit the gym right after work. I want to run a little extra hard today and get some extra strength training in.

Vacation pics and post tonight, I promise!

Today's eats....

- coffeeeeee w/ demerara & skim
- Country Harvest sunflower flax toast w/ almond butter & honey, 1/2 Gala apple
- snack plate: deli turkey wrapped around dill pickles, few olives, baby carrots, rice Krisps, hummus
- other 1/2 apple, light cheddar
- leftover lemon/dijon/dill chicken breast & brown rice on spinach salad
- tea & Kashi granola bar
- Activia ff yogurt w/ fresh berries if still snacky Pin It

Jetlagged

I'm feeling a little tired and headachey this morning. Probably due to some residual jetlag and sleeping in an unfamiliar bed. Hopefully it passes today.

Yesterday I didn't end up going out for coffee or lunch....too freaking windy and I was a little afraid of the sidewalk situation because of the shoes I have with me. So I made a cup of tea and ate a few of the egg nog almonds to get me through the day until dinner. Not so healthy at all. LOL. For dinner, my friend's hubby made us yummy perogies (and not the frozen Cheemo ones...he gets them from the polish deli) complete with polish sausage, sauteed cabbage and onions, and fat free organic sour cream. Delish. I had two big glasses of water too, which is amazing because I've been having trouble getting my water in lately. After dinner, her hubby dropped us off downtown and my friend and I went to the mall in search of boots. No luck. So we went to Starbucks instead, where I had a decaf grande non-fat Gingersnap latte with no whip. Yummy, but not as good as the full fat one DBF brought me last week. :) My friend had a big cookie (my fave, the 11 point chocolate chunk cookie that I can't get in Halifax) but I didn't even have a bite. I will have to at least share one with someone while I'm home though...I was drooling inside my head. LOL. Then we walked home....freaking cold and windy, but we're tough. haha.

This morning I've had a cup of pekoe tea and two of the little homemade raisin scones her hubby made while we were shopping (yup, her hubby is the cook AND the baker!). Yummy. I'm meeting a girlfriend for lunch...I think at this great little Mexican place for tasty little soft tacos. And I'm sure I'll grab an egg nog misto for my afternoon warm treat. Tonight is dinner and drinks out with some friends. I asked to hit up one of my fave little restaurants that makes this awesome chicken soup with rice dumplings. Amazing stuff. And they also make a wicked side salad (I know it's just salad but theirs hits the spot every time), so dinner will be healthy and I'll finally be getting some fresh veggies in. :) Probably after dinner drinks...maybe a Strongbow since I haven't had one from on-tap since May.

It's an action-packed day. I really need to get some proper exercise in soon though. This weather has impeded the massive amounts of walking I had planned on. Hmmmmm. Pin It
