Junk Affair

Sorry gang.  The amount of stuff I have to do is definitely getting to me.  I don’t feel stressed or anything but I have a lot going on and it’s wiping me out.  My balance is definitely weighted heavily on the wrong side right now…lack of exercise and a love affair with a lot of junk food seems to be the norm.

I am working on it.  I swear.

Friday night (Saturday morning) I went to visit Lynn, Tasha, and Holly at Relay for Life.  Brought coffees, walked about an hour’s worth of laps, and thanked my girlies for taking part in such a great event.  Their team raised over $5000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. Wooo!

Of course that meant I didn’t get home until 2am…whooops.  And had to get up at 8:30 to set up and run my yard sale.  Thankfully I didn’t have any crazies lurking around while I set up this time.

I drank coffee and ate a Vega Vibrancy Bar while I worked.

Lesley showed up around noon to surprise me with a Starbucks treat…and bought some loot from me…including that bell collection for her Mom!

I sold a fair amount of stuff then packed up a bit early because the weather went South.

I’m pretty sure I laid on the couch for a bit and polished off a box of Mike & IkesSugar cravings have been out of this world lately…there’s been a few undocumented Mike & Ikes adventures.

However, I did drag my tired behind into the kitchen for a smoothie because I had grand plans to hit the gym.

Unfortunately it did not boost my energy the way I thought it would.  I ended up just having a long, hot shower and chilling out with some True Blood on VOD.

Eventually I got hungry enough to decide on some take-out.  Trying to keep it somewhat healthy I opted to try out the new Wok Box that opened near by recently…

IMG_9284

Based on a few Twitter recommendations I chose the Singapore Cashew with chicken on rice…

IMG_9289 IMG_9291

Aside from being slightly pricey I really liked it!  Yummy flavour.  Could be a tad spicier (which is weird coming from me, I’m a wuss) and next time I would ask for no peppers and get extra broccoli.  Definitely better than my first Wok Box experience a while back.

After dinner I totally feel asleep on the couch.  I guess the 6 hours sleep and long morning caught up with me.  When I woke up I dove into the Cheetos bag.

IMG_9292

I know, I know.  They shouldn’t even be in the house…but they are, and I love them.  xoxoxox.  But I think they are killing me slowly.  Dammit.  Love hurts.

I don’t even have a post for Sunday…started with Oats in a Jar…involved a hazelnut misto…ended with roasted asparagus and a batch of Club Soda Cupcakes.  More True Blood and Cheetos complete the package.

Sleep is the goal for tonight.  Gotta start shifting that weight back to the healthy side of balance!

Rockin' Partay

This Friday has been all about taking care of business.  I don't want to be worrying about work this weekend so I made sure to focus and stay on track during my work day.

Coffee helped.

IMG_6268

So did my obsession with carbs and almond butter

IMG_6269 IMG_6270

At least my carbs came in the form of tiny little sprouted grain toast

I ate breakfast kind of late so I kept lunch light and easy.  Thankfully there was leftover Watermelon & Feta salad in the fridge...

IMG_6272 IMG_6273

So yummy after a night in the fridge.  All that watermelon juice mingled with the feta.  NOM!  Can you imagine if I'd had the fresh basil?  *swoon*

Although tasty, this fruity salad isn't too filling...so by 5pm I was pretty hungry for dinner.  I figured I might as well eat at my desk while I finished up for the day...knowing I had a night of packing and sorting ahead of me.

Another meal of leftovers.  Even on day two Doraku's sushi kicks all other sushi's ass.

IMG_6274 IMG_6278

My rockin' Friday night has included turning the TV on for company, mixing myself a mocktail, cooking up a few puffed appies, and diligently picking through my possessions for things I do not need.

IMG_6291

Santa Cruz organic lemonade with a splooosh of POM blueberry.  Yum!

IMG_6293

Highlights of my packing partay include:

  • sorting through my CDs.  Note:  I haven't bought a CD in like 5 years.  I am parting with some seriously bad choices from my youth.
  • finding a whole box of Arron's glassware in storage.  How many pilsner glasses does one man need?
  • photographing my bell collection for kijiji.  Yes apparently as a child I was a 75 year old woman.

IMG_6284

Funny.  I have absolutely no problem selling these.  LMAO.

Soon, I am off to bring warm bevvies to my friends taking part in the Halifax Relay for Life.  Lynn raised over $3000!  Usually I would also be participating as the Canadian Cancer Society is my family's charity of choice, but this year I just have too much going on.  Instead I will support my friends and maybe even walk a few midnight laps.

Then I'll come home and hopefully crash out so I can get up and hock my wares in my driveway tomorrow.  Someone come visit!

Flavourific

Without even trying I wound up eating some of my favourite flavour combinations today!!

Coffee + vanilla soy milk...

IMG_6229

Light breakfast before massage therapy.  Cottage Cheese + fresh pineapple = Nom Nom Nom!!

IMG_6232

A veggie bagel-wich after my appointment.  Filled with tomatoes, cucumbers and spinach.  But also with another favourite combo...hummus + cheddar!

IMG_6235

Deeeelish.  with a side of apple.

IMG_6238

During my conference call...two flavour explosions.

Coffee + chocolate!

But not just plain chocolate.  Chocolate + Mint.  Yummy Luna cookie!

IMG_6243 IMG_6244

And not just plain coffee.  But Iced coffee + vanilla.

IMG_6241

See here...I also got signed up for CAA ($100 piece of mind for a single gal on the road!)...and got my hands on their maps and travel books.  Ohhhh...things are coming together.  eeeeeek!!

IMG_6242

Tonight I'm off to yoga and then back to do some more yard sale purging.  I spy a teapot I've never used, a pair of shoes I haven't worn since we've lived here, and a number of picture frames that have seen better days.

Cross-Cut

I took a couple of melatonin before bed last night so I woke up sorta groggy this morning...plus the weather turned "meh".  Boooo.

Coffee helped!!  :)

IMG_6194

And toast.  Why would I ever make regular toast again?  Sprouted grain bread makes the best toast!  (Even if this isn't quite as fab as my beloved Squirrelly bread...haha).

IMG_6195

One piece with chocolate peanut butter...the other with almond butter...both with Supercrack (I like the North American best now that I've tried it!).

IMG_6196

Lunch today was supposed to be a salad, but it was too gray and cold for a cold lunch.  Not much in the way of hot lunches around here right now so I dug into the freezer to see what needs to be used up.

Hors d'oeuvres!  Leftovers from our last party.  So I baked up a few little puffs in the oven and served them alongside some veggies, hummus, and Mary's Crackers...

IMG_6198IMG_6199 IMG_6201IMG_6202

(Did anyone else do the Windows Live Writer update?  I did it and now have lost all of my saved links, options such as auto spell checking, and it crashes every time I try to do anything!!)

Anyway...*grumble*

Lunch held me over for quite a while but in the afternoon I had a chill so had a cup of the Vanilla Rooibos tea Becki sent me.  Yummm.

IMG_6207

With a Banana Larabar.  Seriously one of my forgotten favourites.  Deeelish.

IMG_6219

Then I got all caught up in organizing and sorting my office to get ready for moving.  I have years worth of files and such that I totally don't need to be moving around with me anymore.  I actually managed to condense an entire file drawer into about a dozen or so folders.

My shredder was in serious overtime tonight.  The most shocking things I found...

  • A letter from the last time I saw an orthodontist.  Dated 1993.
  • My income tax documents for every year I've filed.  I've been in the workforce since 1992.
  • The order form for my high school ring.  Which I believe I got in my senior year.  I graduated in 1993 and haven't worn the ring since about '98.

And believe it or not...I'm not actually a packrat. LOL.

IMG_6227

Anyway, I was busy with that and not starving so for dinner I decided just to bake this gianormous sweet potato I had on hand.

IMG_6213

Wrapped in foil and cooked at 450 for about an hour.

IMG_6220

Mashed half of it and topped it with 1% cottage cheese and a scoop of salsa.  Nutritious and delicious...oddly enough.

IMG_6223

Now to finish sorting...keep, sell, toss.  And this is just the first room. Oy.  (Don't even ask what happened to my workout today!)
