Twas Fate

You guys…I don’t believe in signs…except when I do.  Someone out there was definitely on my side today!

1) The original winning bidders (yes, plural…who bids for charity and doesn’t follow through?!) didn’t come through with their donation for Angela’s Shop-4-a-Cause-II…so she reissued the auction and I won this time!

Twas fate.  My fabulous cherry print apron made by KatieJoSews is on it’s way!

Plus it was a donation to my favourite charity…Canadian Cancer Society.

I drank coffee, ate yogurt with blueberries and a toasted sandwich thin with almond butter & honey

2) I gots my hair did.  A final cut and colour with my great stylist here in Halifax.  I’m dreading having to find someone new in Victoria.  My old stylist had quit the biz right before I moved away and I had trouble finding someone to replace her.

I broke down and finally asked for bangs.  I heart them.  Twas fate.

I munched down some leftover Tuna Noodle Surprise and few bites of Asian Slaw before my appointment…

IMG_6433 IMG_6434

And some grapes I carried along in my purse…

IMG_6448

(I also had a Tim Horton’s tea to tide me through my 3 hour appt).

3) Tiffaney viewed my potential condo and called with a resounding YES YES YES – BUY IT!  eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!

There was just something about this unit that I felt the minute I saw the listing…and to have both my fabulous realtor and one of my best friends give it two thumbs up just proves to me that my gut reaction was right.  This is my home.

Twas fate.

My Mom did say that the reason I didn’t find anything when I was there in person was because my condo wasn’t ready for me yet…and apparently she was right!

I’ll be putting an offer in tomorrow morning.

(A few of you have asked for photos…don’t despair, when this becomes official I’ll be sure to say more about it and post a couple of before photos.)

I was so worked up making phone calls and um, maybe dancing around my house that I didn’t realize I was starving until I calmed down.  At 9:30pm I was tempted to eat cereal for dinner, but all of my fresh veggies called my name and I made a salad

IMG_6440

Spinach, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, celery, radishes, yellow pepper…

IMG_6437

With herby goat cheese and Fig Balsamic drizzle…

IMG_6447

Things are sooooo coming together!!

Oh, and here’s that cereal for dessert.  Once I started thinking about it…salad just wasn’t enough!  Special K Vanilla Almond with vanilla soy milk

Wish me luck with my new home!! (ooooh, did I just say HOME?!)

Rockin' Partay

This Friday has been all about taking care of business.  I don't want to be worrying about work this weekend so I made sure to focus and stay on track during my work day.

Coffee helped.

IMG_6268

So did my obsession with carbs and almond butter

IMG_6269 IMG_6270

At least my carbs came in the form of tiny little sprouted grain toast

I ate breakfast kind of late so I kept lunch light and easy.  Thankfully there was leftover Watermelon & Feta salad in the fridge...

IMG_6272 IMG_6273

So yummy after a night in the fridge.  All that watermelon juice mingled with the feta.  NOM!  Can you imagine if I'd had the fresh basil?  *swoon*

Although tasty, this fruity salad isn't too filling...so by 5pm I was pretty hungry for dinner.  I figured I might as well eat at my desk while I finished up for the day...knowing I had a night of packing and sorting ahead of me.

Another meal of leftovers.  Even on day two Doraku's sushi kicks all other sushi's ass.

IMG_6274 IMG_6278

My rockin' Friday night has included turning the TV on for company, mixing myself a mocktail, cooking up a few puffed appies, and diligently picking through my possessions for things I do not need.

IMG_6291

Santa Cruz organic lemonade with a splooosh of POM blueberry.  Yum!

IMG_6293

Highlights of my packing partay include:

  • sorting through my CDs.  Note:  I haven't bought a CD in like 5 years.  I am parting with some seriously bad choices from my youth.
  • finding a whole box of Arron's glassware in storage.  How many pilsner glasses does one man need?
  • photographing my bell collection for kijiji.  Yes apparently as a child I was a 75 year old woman.

IMG_6284

Funny.  I have absolutely no problem selling these.  LMAO.

Soon, I am off to bring warm bevvies to my friends taking part in the Halifax Relay for Life.  Lynn raised over $3000!  Usually I would also be participating as the Canadian Cancer Society is my family's charity of choice, but this year I just have too much going on.  Instead I will support my friends and maybe even walk a few midnight laps.

Then I'll come home and hopefully crash out so I can get up and hock my wares in my driveway tomorrow.  Someone come visit!

Rescued

Awwww yaaaaa!  My accidentally deleted photos have been retrieved thanks to Tammi and a great program she hooked me up with.  Technology doesn’t hate me!  I will now be able to finish writing my guest post for Dairy Free Betty!

Today was another simple, easy, healthy day.

Coffee with vanilla soy…

IMG_5932

Almond butter has returned to rotation, thanks to Mouse.

A new jar of Crofter’s Supercrack has been opened.

IMG_5936

I discovered a new type of sprouted grain breadStonemill Bakehouse 3 Grains & Oatmeal…

IMG_5934 IMG_5937 IMG_5938 IMG_5939

Chewy & delicious.  Definite competition for my beloved Squirrelly bread…which is still hard to find around here!!

Fruit for a snack…

IMG_5942

Veggie sticks and Sabra hummus for lunch…

IMG_5943

Alongside a slice of homemade veggie & hummus pizza

IMG_5946

After work I totally hit a wall, so it was good that I had planned a night in.  After tweeting with Lex today I decided to pamper myself with a face mask...

IMG_5958

hahahaha.  Zombie anyone?  My face was hard as a rock!!

Dinner was light.  A simple salad of mixed greens, grape tomatoes, and light cheddar…

IMG_5960

Served with a grilled smokie

IMG_5963

And Wheat Thins for crunch.

IMG_5964

Can you tell I am working with whatever ingredients I can find in the crisper, freezer and pantry?  I’m determined not to shop this week.  Well…maybe veggies.  :)

No dessert.  I was too busy watching the American Idol finale, trying to win a cute apron in OSG’s Charity Auction, and keeping up with Twitter.

I think an intervention from TV is in order over here.

Relay for Life

You may have noticed a new addition to my blog ----> a donation button for the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. Please consider making a small (or large!!) pledge to help in my efforts to support this fantastic cause.

This year I tried to start my own Relay team, however it seems that a lot of folks I was counting on either couldn't participate or weren't interested. Honestly I was a little shocked and disappointed but I persevered because I was determined to be a part of this amazing event. As it turns out, Lynn has a team so it was the perfect solution to my issue and I have now joined the "All Night Fighters". We are a small group but I have faith that we will raise some much appreciated funds and have a fun night Relaying for our favorite charity.

Long time readers will remember that I participated in the Relay last year. It was exhausting but I felt an amazing sense of accomplishment when we were done. I hope to take part every year!

Some of you may remember that the reason the Canadian Cancer Society is my cause of choice is because I have been personally affected by cancers in our family. I lost my Dad to stomach cancer when I was 18, and my Grandma to breast cancer in 2000. Other close friends and family members have been afflicted by this disease as well, and it seems to affect more and more people all the time. It's an unforgiving disease that can attack anyone, anytime...no matter their health, gender, age, race. We need a cure!!

So please, if you are able, follow the link on the side and offer a donation. The Relay takes place on June 5th and I'd like to be able to beat my $500 from last year. Any pledge helps!!

Thank you!! Pin It
