Wet Laundry

Well, FH is gone. Boooooooo! Six weeks....he won't be back until May-29th. Argh. Yes I am used to this, but it doesn't mean I have to like it! I have lots to keep me busy...thank God...but it still sucks to be without my honey.

Got up extra early this morning to drop FH and his coworker off at the ship, only to realize that all of my gym clothes were still sitting in the washing machine. oooops. I mean, not just my pants or one top, but all three of my bottoms and both of my supportive workout tops. I didn't even have something ugly or ill fitting I could have used. Sort of annoying, as I usually use my workout to help burn off some of the blues from dropping FH off for these silly long sails.

So instead I took myself to Starbucks! haha, of course. A grande vanilla non-fat Americano misto always help take the sting out of a crappy morning (sorry no camera with me this morning). I sat for about 45 minutes sipping my coffee and reading my book. It helped. But I still need a good sweat....later for sure.

As I'm sure you can understand I didn't take the time to post dinner last night so I could hang out with FH instead. He was still feeling super crappy so we ran our errands and then just stopped at the grocery store to bring home some dinner. He wanted more chicken noodle soup, and got a sandwich to go with it. I opted for sushi...spicy California Rolls and spicy tuna rolls. Pretty good for supermarket sushi.

After dinner, we may have taken care of the rest of the Easter candy. At least now it's gone and I don't have to deal with it any more. One of these holidays I will have to attempt to resist the temptation to buy that junk just because it seems like the festive thing to do!

I did discover this yummy English Toffee tea the other day though, so I made a cup of that and it helped kill the sweets craving.

No Access

Don't you just feel so disconnected from the world when your internet goes down? Gah! That's what happened to us last night. I came up to do my bedtime post and was online for a few minutes, then WHAMO...nothing. Booooo. I fiddled around for a bit, unplugging the modem and such, but honestly I was tired and didn't feel like figuring it out. We were sorta hoping it was just the ISP and it would be fixed overnight.

No such luck. I got up this morning only to have the same problem. Fiddled around some more and finally unplugging and resetting the router seems to have fixed the issue. Totally random. Oh well, I'm back now!
The sorting of the office papers got waylaid by the task of organizing and scanning all of my medical insurance claim receipts, etc. I just got on FH's work coverage last year sometime and it's taken me until now to figure out what I'm supposed to do to claim my money back. Hopefully I'm doing it right and they'll send me a fat cheque for all of those chiropractor and massage appointments I went through over the fall and winter. We shall see!
Since I have the scanner connected I was able to finally scan the photo of me and the cute little monkey at our resort in Punta Cana. I posted it on my other blog where more of my family and friends check in from time to time.
Dinner last night wound up just being simple soup and sammiches because FH is still feeling really under the weather. Ciabatta buns with deli turkey and light cheddar grilled under the broiler. I kept mine as a one-sided open faced deal and ate up the rest of that chickpea & cheddar salad from the night before. The soup was Lipton's Chicken Noodle....yummy sickypants food!

I also ate a freaking TON of candy. I didn't even take pictures. Ridiculous. Mostly jelly beans (these were really good ones from Bulk Barn), some peanut butter eggs, and a few peanut butter bunnies. Too bad really because I had been doing so good avoiding the candy most of the day and only ate this one cookie while reading after dinner.

Is it just me or is Breaking Dawn a little on the graphic side for the teenagers it's supposedly aimed at?

Gah. Well the cookies are all packed up for gifting (saving only 4 for me) and the remaining candy will be thrown in for decoration now too!!

Organized Chaos

Believe it or not this is some semblance of organization:

Each of those piles represents a specific type of bill, invoice, receipt or tax related paper. The huge pile on the right is actually for shredding. Apparently I've saved every grocery receipt since we moved in here last January. Highly unnecessary if there isn't anything office/work related on it! Even Mr. Stoopy is astounded by this mess....he's used to our "everything in it's place" house.

Before I started sorting I got sugar cookie dough prepared...

Health freaks look away! That's 1 1/2 cups of butter you are looking at. Not to mention 2 cups of white sugar and 5 cups of white flour. Ya, I'm giving away heart attacks for Easter. But they'll be cutesy decorated heart attacks!

And made dinner....

Since I mentioned chickpeas and cheddar cheese the other day I've been craving it, so I put both in my salad. The salad I made was so huge that I ended up pulling about a third of it off my plate to make room for my shrimp! I guess I got a little carried away. In the big bowl was romaine & iceberg lettuce, baby spinach, diced tomato, matchstick carrots, green onion, chickpeas & shredded light cheddar. Dressed with just a drizzle of grapeseed oil and s&p.

Since FH is at work I took this as another opportunity for some shrimp. Just sauteed with a smidge of EVOO and fresh garlic, then added the remaining creamy tomato & spinach sauce that was leftover from pasta. Deeeelish.

While I sorted my papers I ate a mini-bag of Eggies. These are my favorite Easter treat....much better than those stinky Mini Eggs. :) I'm eating too much candy, I know. I've ended every post for the last few days with some kind of candy. I have issues. The candy dish should get cleared out by Monday. If it doesn't I'm sending the leftovers to work with FH. He can be all popular in the ward room by bringing homemade sugar cookies and a bunch of candy for the SIX WEEK sail they are about to go on. But he's not allowed to give any to whoever it was that decided they need to go away for so long!
