Five Dollah

IMG_1037

Wednesday morning meeting…bring on two cups of steamy java.

Toasty bready goodness beat out yogurt for this morning’s breakfast.

IMG_1035

After being out in the sun for an hour these grapes were like candy.

IMG_1038

The big silver bowl was super happy to host a bigass salad featuring not only white cheddar, but also avocado, pecans and blueberries.  Nom.

IMG_1040

Five dollah walk = walk in which one loses coffee money due to wearing shorts with shallow pockets.  Suckage.  Homemade iced coffee to the rescue.

IMG_1042

Dinner was worthy of a guest.  Or you know, leftovers…cuz I’m a hermit.

IMG_1056

Since I now have two bottles of TJ’s pineapple salsa I figured I’d better get on using some of it.  I’ve been imagining this in some sort of fish taco situation but since chicken was the meat on hand I went a different direction.

IMG_1043

  • Spray baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Place chicken in dish.
  • Pour salsa over chicken.
  • Cover with foil.  Bake.

IMG_1050

Wanna make it fancy?

  • Remove the foil.
  • Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Broil ‘til bubbly.

IMG_1054

Rocket science on a plate it is! :)  Served with steamed green beans and tasty baby potatoes.

IMG_1059IMG_1046

First little harvest of my very own cilantro!  Tossed with the still warm boiled potatoes with a weee smidge of butter, even wee-er smidge of light sour cream, salt & pepper.  Do it.

IMG_1058

Five dollah photo.  Pretty sure this is where my coffee money blew away.  Sad day in coffee land. :(

Workout:  Active rest day.  45 minute walk along the Galloping Goose with the pupper.  Super sunny, nice and breezy.  Both of us had our sweat on.

Blogger Secret

Awww yeah!  Breakfast of champions!  Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll.  You know you would totally do it too…

IMG_2092

There was coffee paired with that lovely thing…it was deeeelish!

Since breakfast and dinner the night before both involved baked treats I figured I’d better get some veggies on my lunch plate…

IMG_2098

Nevermind that I matched those tomatoes with crispy bacon and smushed them together with light cheddar in a toasted sammich…

IMG_2099IMG_2105

There’s carrots there too though!

IMG_2107

Physiotherapy update:  You guys will be thrilled to know that it seems there may be far less discussion about my sore bum from now on!  At today’s appointment I was given another exercise to work on and the go ahead to start reintroducing daily activity. Yay!  I’ve never been so excited about 20 minutes of walking. ;o)

I celebrated with peanut butter M&Ms I had leftover from the movies on Sunday…

IMG_2117

For dinner I was out with a friend that doesn’t know I’m a food blogger.  It’s the first time in ages that I’ve encountered someone I am nervous to tell about it…I just get the impression that they wouldn’t “get it”.  Time will tell I suppose.

We hit up Fifth Street Bar & Grill where we sat right beside the fireplace.  How Wintery is that?!  Shared the flatbread with olive tapenade and I ordered their chicken fingers for my main…they are awesome and crunchy.  They came with fries so I asked them to make them into “house fries” with lemon juice and parmesan.  So good….but I floated home in a carb coma.

IMG_2127

I’m turning this into a marathon length post…stay with me!

This morning I made sure to dig out a bigass coffee mug and get my smoothie ready to get me through my weekly conference call…

IMG_2124IMG_2121

Lame-o smoothie in a hurry:  1/2 banana, ice, 1/2 packet chocolate Amazing Meal, flax meal, UVAB.  It tasted a bit like dirt.  LOL.

I made up for my lackluster breakfast by building a substantial healthy lunch…

IMG_2128

Stir-fried leftover rice with broccoli, orange peppers, onions, garlic, red chili flakes and soy sauce.  Added my leftover chicken strip as protein.

IMG_2134

For my 20 minute walk I bundled up with my red mittens and took the long route to Starbucks.  Grande reduced fat egg nog coffee misto.

IMG_2135

The first of many this season I’m sure!

About 20 minutes after I got home from my (pain free!) walk my building’s freaking fire alarm went off.  Stoopy and I were not impressed with having to wait outside in the cold.  Grrrr.

I warmed up with a heated ooey gooey cinnamon bun. :)

IMG_2137

Since I am holding off on buying groceries until after my birthday festivities this weekend dinner consisted of fridge finds.

Cheese tortellini and tomato florentine sauce, with added steamed spinach…

IMG_2146IMG_2144

Herby goat cheese melted in, parmesan sprinkled and baked on top…

IMG_2148IMG_2150

I love fitting whole servings of veggies into an unsuspecting dish!

IMG_2156

While cleaning out my pantry cupboard I dumped the last of my chia seeds into the coconut yogurt container.  Ended up becoming a late evening dessert…mixed with sliced banana and toasted pecans.  Yum!

IMG_2157

Phew. Even I kind of lost interest in myself on this one!

Actually NPH

A little late getting here tonight due to possibly the best episode of Glee yet…featuring Neil Patrick Harris.  Seriously.  Singing Piano Man.  Highlight of my night.  LOL.  (No judging! ha!)

Before settling in for that, there was dinner.

Egg white scramble with balsamic zucchini & mushrooms…

IMG_5662

Served with a simple salad dressed with a little more balsamic.

IMG_5663IMG_5660

Easy peasy and tasty.  :)

Pre-dinner I went for a speedy stroll around the neighbourhood.  The whole block smelled like BBQ!

Post-dinner I snacked on a handful (or 2!) of dark chocolate edamame.  These taste better this time…maybe I was sick the first time I tried them!

IMG_5659    While waiting for Glee to start I watched a bit of hockey and did today’s 100 crunches

Bring back my abs!!  :)

Walking with Owls

Click the image to watch Fireflies by Owl City

My new fave happy song.  Cute for listening in the car, in my office, during my cool downs, or walking around the neighborhood on a sunny day.  Too cute

I listened to about half the album while walking around my neighborhood at noon. It’s a beautiful blue-skied, crisp Fall day out there.  I couldn’t let it pass by without getting some fresh air.

Being a holiday, kids were out in full force.  A little street hockey action…

025

I saw…

  • 1 full set of outdoor Xmas lights
  • 1 fully Xmas decorated front porch
  • 1 Xmas wreath
  • 1 Xmas flag

Christmas Crazy!  It’s still too early people!

Before my walk I worked (it’s a holiday but my coworkers and I agreed to work today and take a more useful day off in the future…) and ate breakfast

022

Stonyfield Farms Organic Vanilla yogurt with Kashi Honey Almond Flax cereal, sliced banana, and a sprinkle of pomegranate…

023

And coffee of course…back to half-caf…I was letting myself get a little too caffeinated

021

Post-walk I was pretty cold so immediately decided on soup for lunch.  Thawed some Chowdy Doody

027

Served with some snackies…pickles, cheddar, Terra Sweets & Beets, celery with hummus…

028029

Thankfully our weekly conference call started out with a discussion I didn’t need to participate in too much, so I muted myself and crunched away on my snacks.  Bwahahhah.

But now it’s my turn to talk, so gotta run!

3 O’clock Block Walk

Apparently I’m in a rhyming mood today!

After slogging through the hell that is my inbox on Monday mornings, and eating a tasty lunch I decided to again take advantage of the blue skies and get my walk on.  20 minutes around the neighborhood.

To make it a little more interesting I had fun checking out all of the Halloween decorations.  Seems to me that there were more last week?  I think some peeps have pulled theirs down because of the shite weather we had over the weekend.  Hope no one minded me paparazzi-ing their front yards…

Before I walked, there was lunch

154

Baked sweet potato topped with shredded cheddar, salsa, and light sour cream.  Holy filling.  Hit the spot!

Plans for tonight:

  • light supper
  • 5km training – treadmill interval run
  • yoga at my gym (first time!)
  • hot shower
  • heat pack
  • pumpkin fudge
  • good book
  • early to sleep (of course, early for me is anything before 1am!)
