Big Night

When I threw out the Saturday night dinner question FH offered to make pizza.  I agreed…with the caveat that this time we have his and hers sides.  Honey makes a mean pizza but I like more veggies and less cheese on mine.

It’s truly comical.

His side: pepperoni, canned mushrooms, quadruple cheese, Italian sausage…

IMG_1898

Her side: 1/2 as much pepperoni, spinach, pineapple, 1/2 cup cheese, sprinkle parmesan…

IMG_1897

Hilarious.  And tasty!  I had two pieces…

We finally got to put the Pampered Chef pizza stone into action too.  The crust did indeed turn out perfectly browned on the bottom, with no extra oil needed.  Nice.

Earlier I had a bowl of Stonyfield organic vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries to tide me over until dinner.  My oatmeal actually kept me full for HOURS.

And apparently no Saturday is complete without another cupcake!  FH had a craving all day so we took a run down to Susie’s to grab dessert.  Parking was non-existent so I waited in the car and told FH to surprise me.

Flavour we hadn’t tried yet…Toblerone!

IMG_1911

So good, but I pulled about 1/3 of the icing off…it was just too much.

So I think I’ll be waddling myself to the gym today to burn that cupcake off.  (Especially since Mr. Generous bought me TWO cupcakes…so there’s actually another one for devouring later tonight…eeeeek!)

FH is on duty today so we were up at the unGodly hour of 6:30 to get him to work on time.  Blech.  Instead of climbing back into bed when I got home I decided to write my to-do list and enjoy my coffee while getting an early start on the day.  Let’s see if I can make it through the day without falling asleep on my feet.  :)

If you had $25 to burn at iTunes, what would you buy?

Last Night’s Lasagna

Warning:  Those of you that have a drool impulse may wish to look away!  :)

Lovely lasagna a la FH!!

033

It’s massive!!  You may see this on the blog for days to come.

032

I had a half piece…which sorta fell apart upon serving…with a bigass plate o’ salad along side…

037

In the salad: sassy mixed greens, grape tomatoes, yellow pepper, and carrots…drizzled with homemade vinagrette…

036

Today I’m just enjoying a quiet day around the abode.  FH is out visiting a buddy.

On the agenda:

  • mucho quality TV time
  • a lululemon cheer gear order
  • maybe some reading
  • doing my nails (they are in dire need)
  • leftover Thai food
  • finally, a return to yoga.  Quality restorative stretching, come to mama!
  • cuddling Mr. Stoopy whether he likes it or not. :)

Oompa Oompa Stick it in your Jumper

Knowing FH was cooking dinner for last night I made sure to plan ahead and got a workout in and stuck to healthy eats for breaky and lunch.

Started out with another breakfast cookie.  This one was definitely the best yet.  Friday night I mixed up the following…

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • flax meal
  • 1 tbsp whey protein isolate
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/8 cup unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze
  • AND a scoop of smashed TJ’s peanut butter pretzels!

Let sit in the fridge over night and topped with Liberte Coconut yogurt and sliced bananas in the morning.  Deeeeeeeeeeeeeelish.

033

Then I hit the gym for my first attempt at tackling the strength training routine that Gina put together for Caitlin.  I’ll get into this more in the coming week…I was so happy to see her post this because I really need to focus more on my toning and strength.  Her timing couldn’t be better.

When I got home, I went straight to the blender for a green smoothie.  I wanted something refreshing and protein filled, and well I love me a green smoothie.

In the KA

  • ice
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • flax meal
  • 1 tbsp whey protein isolate
  • 2 big handfuls baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze

048

Admittedly this was a pretty plain smoothie.  It was bright green and hit the spot, but it was lacking flavor.  Definitely time restock my Amazing Meal.

052

Alongside my smoothie I tried a second Vitalicious snack.  The Apple-Berry-Cinnamon Vitatop

061

Heated slightly in the microwave.  Tasted yummy but it was a bit dry.  I think it would be better with coffee or maybe with peanut butter or jam.

063

Then much cleaning, vaccuuming, Windexing, etc ensued.  A late afternoon Kashi bar was consumed to hold over til our later dinner.

043

In the interest of keeping this post from getting out of control, I’ll jump straight to dinner.  FH cooked!

Stuffed shells featuring a ricotta-spinach filling, homemade marinara sauce and Alfredo…

065 073

066 085

Hot Italian sausages, browned and soaked in the marinara…

091 122

I took care of a little appy plate for our guests…

094 097

And of course, you know I concocted a bigass salad!!

In the super big silver bowl:

  • Sassy mixed greens
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • yellow pepper
  • tomatoes
  • julienned beets

100

Served with a homemade dressing of red wine vinegar, fresh squeezed lemon, Italian Seasoning, s&p, and EVOO.

106

With warmed ciabatta baguette

113 114

With wine (and scotch for the boys)…

**For anyone that is keeping track (ha!):  I ate 2 shells, 1/2 a sausage, 2 servings of salad, 1 piece of bread, and 2 glasses of wine.**

Folllowed by Beatles Rock Band…(and apparently a self portrait because being the girl with the camera means no one ever takes my picture!)

123 152153

Have you ever actually paid close attention to the lyrics of Beatles songs?  I thought I had, but Beatles Rock Band tells me that I clearly had no real clue.  I think maybe the Fab Four spent a bit too much time dragging on the hooka pipe back in the day.

Twas another late night, but so much fun.  :)  Thanks to our friends Paul, Julian, Mark and Frank for supporting the band!

Sunday Purge

So sleeping in late and staying out past 1am last night has totally thrown my sleep schedule off (yet again!).  I ended up staying awake until close to 3am when I got home from the party…enjoying my grilled cheese and watching Zack & Miri Make a Porno.  Of course, then I slept late again this morning and now I’m not anywhere near tired for bedtime.  Wish me sleepytime luck!

When I did drag my butt downstairs, I went straight to the Kitchen Aid for a morning-after jolt of green.

IMG_8492

In the KA today:  1/2 banana, 3/4 cup slightly thawed strawberries, Amazing Grass Kidz Wild Berry Superfood, flax meal, 2 heaping handfuls baby spinach, and 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze.

IMG_8487 IMG_8488 IMG_8491

I’m not a huge fan of the fruity Amazing Grass products, but my samples have nearly come to and end.  :(  This one was pretty tasty mixed with the strawberries and such though.

Coffee brewed while I drank up my green smoothie.  Broke into the pack of Sumatra that came in the Starbucks gift pack I received from my uncle and family at Christmas.

IMG_8484IMG_8493

While sitting here catching up on Google Reader and enjoying a quiet Sunday morning early afternoon, FH disappeared into the kitchen.  When he reimerged he handed me breakfast!

IMG_8494

My own personal greasy spoon breaky without the hassle of showering and leaving the house.  :)

Cheesy scrambled eggs, fried spuds, bacon and toast.  Nom!!

IMG_8496

After that I busied myself in our bedroom.  I went up planning just to put away some clothes and get some laundry started and ended up doing a total clothing purge of my closet and dresser.  In the end I wound up with an entire black trash bag of purses and two bags of clothing.  Wow.  Apparently I had a bit of a problem with cheap, kitchy purses earlier in the millenium

The big red charity bin at the mall will be loaded full of goodies tomorrow!

While puttering I snacked on a granola bar and sipped lots of water

IMG_8497

Come dinner time FH had already had a late lunch so I took the opportunity for a dinner salad

In the big silver bowl tonightDole Sassy Greens, grape tomatoes, mini cucumber, and yellow peppers…

IMG_8498 IMG_8499

Dressed with Fig Balsamic

IMG_8500 IMG_8501

And served with spanakopita.  The box is empty now so I promise a little more variety in next week’s dinner posts!  (Someone asked where these were from  - Superstore!)

IMG_8503

Added some hummus and a couple of super yummy garlic stuffed olives just for fun…

IMG_8502 IMG_8504

After dinner I grabbed a couple of Hershey’s kisses out of the bowl, but what I really want is a cookie.  Pretty decent willpower on my part because normally I would just eat the chocolates in an attempt to quell the cookie craving, but I stepped away from the bowl the minute I knew they weren’t cutting it.

I still want a damn cookie though.  Is 9:45 too late to bake? ha!
