It’s the Charlie Browniest

Two coffees today and not a picture of either of them. I suppose by now you are all quite aware of my morning coffees. :)

I did do something different for breakfast though! An old boyfriend introduced me to this but I couldn’t tell you the last time I made it. We are talking years though. It’s simply a soft boiled egg and toast…but his addition of seasoning salt to the egg and the ingenious idea of cutting the toast into strips is what makes the meal.

You can tell I didn’t plan my meals in advance today because breakfast and lunch are both carby. Not the end of the world but I usually try not to double up. Lunch needed to be quick and easy…and what’s easier than opening a box and boiling water?

I give the TJs Organic Shells & White Cheddar two thumbs up. It cooks up just like KD but tastes better and won’t kill me quite as quickly. I added broccoli just because I like the bright green in my white meal. :)

This afternoon I met my friend Ryan for a browse around Chapters so we sat for a coffee and a chat while we were there. Reduced fat egg nog latte…yes please!

When I got home I snacked on a couple of dates with the intention of finishing work for the day and heading to the gym.  Alas I got super duper side tracked and didn’t make it out the door.

I was side tracked opening a way fun Christmas package all the way from Boston. My friend John sent me fun Christmas loot and included some more Trader Joe’s treats for me to try. I ate a huge handful of these while we chatted on Skype.

With all of the Trader Joe’s stuff in my cupboard right now you would never know we don’t have them in Canada!

When we finished chatting I tackled dinner.  A redo of the Mexi Salad from the other night.  This time I remembered the avocado.

Check this out! My very own Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree! I whined at John at some point about not having a Christmas tree this year (I need to get a new one and decided that it can wait until next year) so he provided me with this!

That is a cute tree!

I was wondering if Starbucks makes a low-fat version of their egg-nog latte - now I have my answer. I tried their Caramel Brulee latte the other day. I think I still like the regular macchiato better.

You really do love Trader Joes!

We soft boil the eggs to dip the toast in...my mom called it 'boiled egg and soldiers' b/c the toast is like straight little soldiers. Thanks for the memory! Cheers!

Oh my. I have to say, I am not a fan of the period after every word sentences but that is
THE. CUTEST. TREE. EVER.

I have that tree! I got it from co-workers. So cute.

Also, we used to have toast like that all the time when I was little. My mom called the toast 'soldiers'. Then my brother and sister had the soft boiled eggs too (I never liked eggs) Anyway, I think it's a British thing??

Dates make me think of giant beetles every time I see them...

Love the tree! When I was a kid we would always choose the saddest tree in the lot because we thought noone else would love it.
Soft boiled eggs are my fav but I have never cut the toast like that... what a good idea!
