The Halibloggers are feeling a little Christmas spirit already and have decided we are all going to do a 5km run together! What better time of year to spread some cheer and charity?! We’ve chosen the Santa Shuffle 5km Fun Run in support of our local Salvation Army. Hopefully with a little work and tough love we can push each other to a new level of fitness for the holiday season!
As you all well know, I’m an indoor runner…and I hesitate to even call myself a runner because I generally stick to short distances and run intervals. I’m super excited to follow a proper training plan with my girls and to hit the streets (although admittedly I’m not sure this is the best time of year for me to tackle outdoor running…me + ice = falling down a lot!). Wish us luck!
We have approximately seven weeks to prepare and condition. We can do it! In preparation, I’m working on a new workout/running schedule today and using this as a new kick in the pants to get back on track with my healthy living. Embracing Balance!

Congrats on signing up! I so wish I was in Hali so I could sign up too! Tres jealous.
Good luck with the training, can't wait to hear all about it. :)
Wooohooo!! Bring it Santa!!
Seven weeks is plenty of time for training for a 5k. You can do it! I've done the Santa Shuffle in Winnipeg. Everyone ran with bells on their shoes. It was really fun!
Good for you girl!!!!!
At least if you DO fall down - you have a wonderful group of Halibloggers to pick you back up again!!!
I think you will do awesome AND have a blast!!!!
that sounds like super fun to me, I love running with other folks, I just don't have anyone to run with.. whatever.
as for the snow/ice thing, here is my weird thing, I slip, slide all the freaking time when I walk but NEVER when I'm running, odd I know but I think it has something to do with the fact that your foot is on that particular patch of ice for such a short time before moving on that you just don't slip that much. Plus in a semi-packed or packed snowy trail, well that rocks for grippiness (if that is a word, lol) plus a runner guru I know says its really good to run on uneven surfaces occassionally to challenge your little leg muscles :0)
Awesome!!! I hope you girls have fun!
That is so awesome! I love that you are all doing it together! so great to have that support!
I've done the Santa Shuffle lots here in Calgary - it's a really fun run - you guys will have a ball!!
