Walking Weather

In lieu of the gym today I decided to go for a nice, long walk along the water.  My joints and bad shoulder have really been bugging me, and although those things don’t really affect a workout they were stifling the gym love.  The walk was a great idea!

This lovely piece of the BLT Trail is less than a 5 minute drive from my house, yet I haven’t been there since Spring.  Why?  Because when I think workout I almost always think “gym” now…but also because I think I just prefer walks in the cooler, colorful seasons.

I walked about 6km.  3km in…

3 km back…

I met a few of these fuzzy little guys along the way.  I was afraid the bike riders might smoosh them!!

Loving the red leaves.  I’ll be heading back again over the coming weeks to watch all of the leaves change.

Before I went, I had a simple breakfast.  The last of the peach cobbler with some Foxhill vanilla yogurt and the other half of yesterday’s banana.  With coffee, but I’m sure I didn’t need to tell you all that!

At the end of my walk I ate half of one of these new chocolate Nature Valley bars.  I tried the crunchy one, it’s pretty good.  We got these as a free sample in our newspaper…loves me some free stuff!!

I checked the ingredient list…these don’t have HFCS anymore!!  Still a few other things I’m not in love with, but not as bad as I had expected.

And then for lunch I went with a bigass salad because it’s been at least a full day since I made one.  :)  Gotta make up for last night’s veggie-free meal.

In the big bowl today…two servings for Mom and I…romaine, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, and a big handful of black beans.  Dressed simply with s&p, grapeseed oil, and a big squeeze of lime.

Served with some lemon dill hummus and the last of the stoned-wheat crackers.

Now I’m powering through the rest of today’s work so Mom and I can head out for a little mall time and some dinner.  I think I shall take her for Japanese where I can eat sushi and she can eat teriyaki.  :)
