OMG…what a first day! Canadian Blog Girls unite!
(So, let’s see if Angie and I write the same thing…hahaha)
Angie and I met up at the airport bright and early, with a stop at Starbucks for some travelling fuel. I reasoned that since I can only have one cup of coffee per day I better cram a lot into one cup, so I ordered a Triple Grande Non Fat Vanilla Latte. :) Honestly, that’s only the caffeine equivalent of 1.5 cups of coffee…so I’m doing OK!
We ran into Holly and Dean, friends of Lynn (who sadly could not join us for our trip…boooooo!) that took part in the Relay with me so we we able to get them to take a photo.
Our flight was uneventful…though we did have THE chattiest man on Earth sitting next to us. He kept us entertained with his non-stop stories about Halifax, his daughters, trips to Cuba, and many other things. Slightly odd, but time just FLEW by listening to him.
Once on the ground, we quickly made our way to baggage claim and then promptly out the door for a cab into the city. Amy had already arrived at the hotel and we were dying to get there to meet her!
Hugs and giggles abounded when we found her waiting for us in the lobby! We checked our luggage and went outside to wait for Tasha…who just lives across the street. Within minutes there were more hugs and giggles and then we were off down Yonge Street heading for a fabulous “welcome to Toronto” sushi lunch.
At Sushi Queen (on Queen Street…not sure how we didn’t get a photo of this place!) we ordered a selection of fun appies and a plethora of sushi rolls. Deeeeeeeeeee-freaking-lish.
On the table:
Yakitori, tempura tofu, assorted veggie & shrimp tempura, and edamame.
Rolls a plenty:
California, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, tempura sweet potato (love it!), Philly, Crave Q, avocado, and the always necessary Dynamite.
Honestly just too busy chatting and loving meeting Miss Amy for the first time, so food photos and reviews took a back seat. But we all loved it…and we did leave some food behind due to our over zealous ordering.
After lunch we proceeded to do a quick preview trip at the Eaton Center mall (where I bought band-aids for my feet because I’m lame and my shoes already started to cause blisters!). Then we returned to the hotel to get our room, freshen up and head out for the BEST CHEESE SHOP EVER (review to follow). Many cheese tastes ensued, then a trip to the LCBO for some wine…and then the exciting return to the hotel where the lovelies Cat and Jen had finally arrived! More big, squishy hugs and huge smiles and just overall merriment!!
(I’m going to break here and start a new post for the night time fun….)
