Mother’s Cupboard

This morning I woke up with a start and panicked because my alarm clock was flashing 12:00!  Not normally a big deal for my morning schedule, but of course it had to happen on the day I had an 8:00am appointment to get my car all fixed up for my big road trip.  Thankfully it was only 7:30…

After I dropped my car off, I walked the couple of kms home where coffee was waiting for me…

I don’t do a hearty breakfast that early in the day (yes I know you are all rolling your eyes about 8am being early…LOL)… so I opted for a green smoothie

IMG_6337

In the KA today:  ice, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/4 cup whole oats, Amazing Meal, flax meal, baby spinach, and UVAB.

Love the oats in there!  Kind of “malty” tasting and they totally help make a meal out of the drink.

Since I didn’t load up on groceries this weekend, it was a bit of a struggle to find a lunch meal today.  I put the last of the spinach in my smoothie so veggie sticks had to take the place of my planned salad…with hummus

Matched with a slice of pizza from the freezer…

Substitute for afternoon sugar rush… Lemonade + Blueberry POM.

I didn’t walk back to get my car back until the very end of the day so there was no time for grocery shopping before dinner…no way I was doing that while hungry!

I had been putting a no-grocery meal idea together in my head anyway so decided to go with it.

Tuna Noodle Casserole with a secret ingredient!

IMG_6359

Smart pasta, double veggies, dill and dijon…aaaand…

Mashed sweet potato!

IMG_6354

All mixed up with tuna and low sodium mushroom soup….sprinkled with light cheddar…

Tuna always needs a pickle!

I forfeited this evening’s leg workout in lieu of restocking the fridge.

Then spent over an hour on the phone with my Mom discussing this great little condo that I may have finally foundeeeeeeeeeeeek.  By the time we finished talking I decided to just make tea, blog, and watch Glee.  It’s the season finale already.  :( *pouts*

Here’s hoping my early morning helps lead to an early night.

Morning Chill

FYI: 14 minutes of Booty Booster combined with a 3 hour conference call (sitting on butt) and 2 hour movie (sitting on butt) makes for stiff hamstrings and calves the next day. Just sayin’.

I thought things might loosen up at the gym, but no such luck because I pretty much raced through my workout and totally had to cut the cardio portion right off.  Today was day three (week two) of Intro to Iron which is mostly upper body with a bit of other body love thrown in.

Normally I’d tackle 20-30 minutes cardio afterwards but today I had to run my car to the shop for it’s annual provincial inspection so I decided to use the shop near our house and jog home.

Turns out it’s barely 2km…but it’s pretty much all uphill…and covered in a whole lotta ice!  So my run was more of a jog/walk combo.  Better than nothing, but not what I had hoped for.  I do have to walk the 2km back to get my car later though so that’s good.

aaaand I got to wear my coolio lululemon running gloves that Amy got for me!  Slightly disappointing in that they didn’t keep my fingers any warmer than my regular gloves (my fingers FREEZE easily and quickly).

IMG_1338

…but I did like the softness of the exterior when I rubbed my snotty nose face.  :)

When I got home I went straight for the blender.  Gotta get a couple of servings of fruit and veg in my system!

In the KA:  ice, 1/2 banana, 1 tbsp honey PB, 2 tsp flax meal, 2 cups baby spinach, 8 oz unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze

IMG_1345

Not toooo shabby!  (I totally went to order my Amazing Meal today but my wallet is in my car…I didn’t want to run with my purse!)

Followed closely by coffeeeeeeee and a cranberry-bran Vitamuffin

IMG_1348 IMG_1349

Yum!!

For lunch I needed some protein, so I opened up a can of tunaAdded to it: plain yogurt, grainy dijon mustard, chopped pickles, green onions and lots of ground pepper…

IMG_1359

Rolled up in two small ancient grains tortillas with mixed greens…

IMG_1362

Cukes on the side.

IMG_1365

After which I got the call that my car needs it’s rear brakes done.  Boooo!  I just barely paid off Christmas and now this. Lame-o!  I sorta figured this was coming…but was hoping I could squeak another six months (or year!) outta them.  Damn safety!  Geeeeze.  ;)

This might call for a cookie this afternoon.

Wish Me Luck

OK, so here’s the deal.  My weekly conference call HAS to be done by 4pm.  That’s my rule today.  Of course, I’m communicating this to my bosses and coworkers using mental telepathy so I’m not too sure it will work.  Cross your fingers for me OK?

Why?  Because 4pm-5pm is my workout window.  My only workout window for today.  I NEED to run.  NEED.

Why?  Because I’m going to dinner and a movie tonight!  Finally seeing New Moon!  and dinner at Brooklyn Warehouse!  Totally looking forward to it…girlie drinks, good food, and teen dreams…too fun.

Hopefully that takes my mind off THIS…

016 017

I just noticed this HUGE MISSING PIECE of my front grill today.

018

This is my unimpressed face.  My car is 8 years old and aside from a couple of very small dings and scratches, it’s perfect.  THIS is not cool at all.  What would cause this?  I’m thinking more of a WHO…not a WHAT.  Bugger.

Before heading to get the mail and noticing that, I made coffee…well egg nog misto…but you know… :)

021

And hey…would you look at this!  It’s breakfast!!

022

Toast with organic peanut butter and seedless raspberry jam

019

Organic vanilla yogurt with shredded clems and blackberries…

020

Yummy in my tummy!

Shirls asked: Why clementines and not mandarins?

Good question.  I’ve noticed that here on the East Coast it’s always clementines.  Haven’t ever seen anything labelled Japanese or Chinese mandarins.  Same fruit, different basket.  :)
