This weekend I finally got to do a little camping. Well, let’s call it camping…even though the only camping part of it was the sleeping in a sleeping bag in the truck and sitting around a campfire.
My good friends Melinda and Ryan got married in a small ceremony a few months ago but waited for good weather to throw a big backyard bash as their wedding reception. They live on a nice sized piece of property perfect for bonfires, BBQs, and multiple guests.
I spent the first few hours visiting with folks I haven’t seen in forever, wrangling dogs, and pretending to be helpful while Michael set up his truck as our “campsite”.
After making a few passes of the food table [sans camera] (burger, quinoa salad, Caesar salad, my Twisted Tater Salad, chips and rhubarb coffee cake) and sipping on a few light beers I finally took a seat near the fire pit and basically planted myself there for the night.
Chibi thought all of the big dogs chasing each other fighting for Alpha position were ridiculous. Clearly hanging out on my lap was the way to go. This also afforded me the ability to use the “I can’t get up because I’m holding the dog so can someone bring me another beer” ploy. Excellent work Chibi!
After a long but wildly uncomfortable sleep (two people, one large dog, and one small dog does not a lot of room make in the bed of a Tacoma…just sayin’) we visited with the remaining guests over coffee, hash browns and toast before sauntering home Sunday afternoon.
This awesome little pug-x was wanting so desperately to be Chibi’s doggie boyfriend. Tucker was clearly very stoked that another small dog came to the party. But Chibi is such a snob he finally gave up and just played photo-shoot with the humans instead.
And clearly Fiddick here was totally ready of all of the guests to leave.
How rude!
Thanks Mel and Ryan!! Good times had by all. :)

Love the pics!! Great to see you too!
Bahaha, great pics! Dogs are so fun.
Oh Jaime GREAT POST! You have some wonderful shots of the night. We were glad all four of you came for a visit (and Chibi is always welcome no matter what the boy says) :P
Rascal & Fiddich loved all the attention. Fidd just didn't like staying up past his bedtime (which is 9pm btw) :)
Love ya.
