While my Mom was visiting this weekend we took a run out to the land of big box stores to do some late afternoon shopping. Since we were already in Langford we decided to drive the extra 15 minutes out to my old stomping grounds in Metchosin.
(Those of you that were around pre-Halifax living know I lived in the boonies for the last year before we moved away...)
The best part of living out in the country was the fact that we had one of the best comfort food restaurants around. We might not have had multiple places to chose from but it didn't matter because we had My Chosen Cafe. :)
To my horror they took the pizza off the menu!!!
This is my SAD FACE :(
My Chosen makes the BEST pizza EVER. Anywhere. I swear.
Our server explained to us that they were just so busy that the pizza guys and the restaurant chefs were tripping all over each other so they actually separated the pizza out into it's own business. Phew!! My Chosen Pizza now exists purely for take-out and delivery. I'm glad it's still around, but what a bummer that it's only take-out since it's actually about a 30 minute drive from the city.
But my meal was still comforting, filling and tasty! The Deluxe Baron is beef dip...but with added sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese...and I also add sautéed onions. This meal goes perfectly with their creamy garlic mashed taters. Nom!
My Mom ordered fries with her meal which weren't very good (totally bland) so I decided that we needed to make up for that with one of the Cafe's award winning desserts. It's not often I want cheesecake, but how could I avoid the Skor Cheesecake?
Milk chocolate cheesecake with dark chocolate ganache, a chocolate cookie crust and Skor toffee chunks. It was massive, rich and truly AMAZING. We barely dented about 2/3 of it and brought the rest home for a meal in itself.
To top off our visit to the country no My Chosen meal is complete without a stop by their Critter Corner. Nothing like a couple of cute goats to finish the day. :)
Maybe next time we'll just order a pizza to eat in the parking lot...with a view of the cute critters. :)

That place looks totally cute!! And, did you say SKOR cheesecake? Holy yum! Off to google a recipe, think hubby would love that for his birthday cake.
Glad you're having a good visit with your Mom! :)
Ooooh! I love my chosen cafe!! Sometimes I ride my bike out there for lunch. So yummy!
