This is Yesterday

Right now I’m out for a lovely Saturday morning cuppa latte and tasty pastry with some girlfriends, so I wrote this post up for you all last night with the hope of catching up the blog timeline.

(In fact, something happened and I lost the whole post so I’ve typed it twice!)

First…thanks for all of the nice comments about my new hairdo!  You guys sure know how to make a gal feel great!  :)

Friday was a pretty simple day.  Started with two steaming mugs of Starbucks Christmas Blend with skim milk & demerara sugar…

This pot was much tastier than the last pot I made.  Far less bitter.  Phew.

With the bits of snow flurrying around all morning it just felt like an oatmeal day

In the potunsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, water, oats, 1/2 very ripe banana, flax meal, raisins added at the end…

On top:  crushed Trader Joe’s peanut butter pretzels

So yum!  Those little treats aren’t just for snacking!

Breakfast was a little late and I was engrossed in couple of things for work so didn’t really think much about lunch.  I did head down to fill my water bottle at some point and grabbed one of Farm Girl’s molasses men

Poor little bugger lost his head!  Lucky for me he still tastes great!

Not long after that I realized it was almost time to head out and take FH to the airport so I quickly reheated my last piece of pizza to eat while I tied up some loose work ends…

Then we made a record-speed trip to Walmart so I could send a giftie for FH’s son with him to Winnipeg and then a white knuckle drive to the airport.  The roads weren’t even all that bad, but the snow flurries and slight potential for ice were freaking me out.  I’m not a confident crappy weather driver.  Pisses me off!  LOL.

So now FH is gone for the holidays…*pouts*…so I made comfort food for dinner

Schmancy grilled cheese.  With bacon, tomato, and old white cheddar…

And hot apple cider for hanging on the couch catching up on this week’s PVR’d shows.  Served in this cute new Winter Starbucks mug FH brought home the other day…

The cider is just fresh pressed apple juice I got at the supermarket simmered with lots of cinnamon & a pinch of nutmeg.

It helped fill the fruit void in my day!  I hadn’t planned on buying any more groceries before I go away but I think I need to make an exception for fresh fruit.  Yup, I do!

I'm the same way driving in those conditions. And those conditions are super frequent around here in the winter time!

Hope you're having a good time at brunch!

I'm glad your drive was safe and sound.

You know I heart your hair - but I heart it even more now! It looks fabulous! So beautiful!
