Nope. So close yet so far.
Considering it's only an hour+ flight to Victoria from Calgary a two hour layover is bit of a stinker! It was nice to get off the plane after 5.5 hours though....first thing I did was pee and get a bottle of water. I'm always soooo thirsty after I fly. I really want coffee but promised myself water first.
My fabulous friend Cosette picked me up at 6am this morning to drive me to the airport. What a friend!! I love being able to check-in and print boarding passes online...it sure saves a lot of wasted time. Once at the airport I only had about a half hour wait before boarding. I made a beeline straight to Starbucks for a grande coffee...which I enjoyed with my grapes and banana while looking out the window at the airport happenings.
Round two I chose ginger ale and they gave me the whole can because I was the last person to order it. Nice. I love ginger ale when I fly. I broke out my home-mixed snack bag and enjoyed about half of it. In the bag: dried pineapple, apricots, cherries, yogurt cranberries, 3 mini choco covered pretzels, honey roasted cashews, salted roasted cashews, and a couple squares of this "crunch" stuff I found at Bulk Barn.
When noon my time came along I broke out my salad. It was really good, all marinated with the hummus. Garlicy. Good thing the seat next to me was empty!
I had the glorious coveted fire exit window seat. I've never had it before and it was great!! I'm 6 feet tall, people....it's nice to be able to move around. The plane was barely even half full (if that) so the center seat was empty. Lots of comfy space!!
Thank goodness for free wi-fi and blogs to catch up on. I'm already more than half way through my layover. This leaves me time for another couple of laps of walking to get the blood flowing and maybe that coffee I was thinking about. I'm actually hungry...due to minimal protein so far...but I'm going for lunch when I get to Victoria (at least a couple of hours still though) so I'll have to find something small. We shall see.
It's going to be a long day!! Big plans for lunch, a coffee date, and dinner and drinks out with friends. The four hour coast-to-coast time difference is going to kill me, but it'll be great to see everyone and visit my favorite pub. :)
