Stuff I Like: Running Off The Reese’s

Whooops, apparently I forgot to provide y’all with a post last weekend.  My bad.  I’m sure you are all completely heart broken.  :)

Well, never fear.  I have faith you will forgive me after you check out this week’s link to something I like (unless of course you’ve already discovered the hilarious Cely…then nevermind…feel free to hate me).

If you have not checked out Running off the Reese’s go do it NOW.  I discovered this gal via someone else’s blog a few months back and honestly it’s the one blog I make sure I read every day.  (Sorry, real life friends!)

Things I like:

  • her super cute Frenchie
  • the sarcasm
  • Snickers love
  • her weekends on a houseboat
  • her intense hatred for Texas weather
  • she’s uses Picnik too!

For you running peeps Cely offers all kinds of insight and opinions on training for a marathon.  I’m not a runner but I still love reading everything she has to say.  It’s especially awesome that she struggles with every run but is pushing her way through training and is determined as all hell.  It’s not all happy sunshine and lollipops.

I love that she highlights all of her posts with awesome pop culture photos, references and personal comments.  It seriously keeps me up to date on everything to do with shirtless True Blood men, drunken Lindsay Lohan, and those uber-Royals the Middleton sisters.

And if none of that convinces you then just know this one thing… on Mondays she does posts that include nothing but pictures of hot famous guys. Magnificent Men of Monday - How else would you start your week?

Note: all photos on this post totally stolen from RotR…I’m sure she won’t mind.  much.  She gives the sources on her blog so I’m being lazy and not giving them here.

Easy Way Out

IMG_2526

Getting up two hours earlier than usual definitely required a bigass coffee yesterday.  Sadly this may have been the worst coffee misto ever.  But the lemon loaf was extra fresh so that’s good.

Second breakfast after getting some work done.

IMG_2531

Easiest lunch ever.  Pasta leftovers.  I didn’t even bother trying to reheat this.

IMG_2529

Pre-gym snackypoo.  Yup, that’s two days of cardio.  My hips hate me.

IMG_2532

By the time I finished buying dog food and toilet paper and getting my workout in I was famished.  I knew if I came home for dinner I’d have to take time to make a salad and wasn’t entirely sure I had anything on hand to serve as a protein so I took the easy way out and stopped at Subway.

Six inch turkey & ham on 9 Grain Honey Oat bread…with lettuce, double tomato, double cucumber, pickles, Sweet Onion Vinaigrette, and s&p.

Later after a doggie walk and a glorious shower I settled in for some Big Brother.  Stupid double elimination took out my favourite player ever.  Buggers.

I consoled myself with chocolate and peanut butter before heading to bed early.  Sometimes it’s nice to just abandon brain power and call it a night.

Grocery Wins

IMG_2513

This week’s grocery shopping score?  2.75lb of fresh BC blueberries for $6.  I missed out on a deal for 5lbs a week ago so I’ve been watching the flyers for another sale.  I just love to freeze fresh blueberries for use in the Winter months.

IMG_2514

I might even go back for another box since I have managed to munch down about a quarter of that box over the last couple of days.

IMG_2515

I also scored waffles on sale for something different in the breakfast department.  Love.  The blueberry one is matched with a drizzle of maple syrup…and those perfect raspberries are matched with almond butter.  Joy.

IMG_2516IMG_2509

Clearly I was a wee bit sucked in by a few sale items this week…I think it’s been about 2 years since I even considered buying S&S bars.  Cashew buttery goodness is evil.  And by evil I clearly mean delicious.

After hitting the gym for some easy cardio (ya I know, did you notice I haven’t mentioned the gym in six weeks?  you didn’t?  um, nevermind then!) I had planned a salad but I was too hungry so instead I crammed most of my salad ideas into a whole wheat tortilla.

IMG_2520

Black beans, cheese, salsa, light sour cream, tomatoes.  I then crammed that bad boy full of lettuce leaves and ate it standing in my kitchen.

For dinner I managed to turn a “clean out the freezer” meal into a fairly decent dinner for two.  Michael’s been running ragged with a work conference all week so when he suggested popping by after work I quickly modified my dinner to include him.

IMG_2524

I simply mixed a couple of cups of cooked rotini with carrots, broccoli and cooked chicken breast bites (just add the veg to the pasta while it’s boiling), tossed it all with about 3/4 cup of store bought Alfredo sauce and heated it all through.

Right before serving I mixed in some diced tomato and a couple of chopped green onions for a bit of freshness.

I made a quickie salad of lettuce, radishes and cucumber to fill out our plates.  Not the most gourmet meal but it certainly filled our tummies.

We finished the evening with a couple of ice cream bars, a walk with the dogs, and a couple of truly random movies on TV.  Not too shabby for a hump day.  :)
